What’s the big deal about looseleaf teas? 😃☕️These healthy and aromatic teas contain more antioxidants and flavonoids than the crushed stuff you find at the big box stores, plus they’re rich in natural oils and aromatic compounds! What’s more, taking advantage of the full benefit of the leaf or flower means not having to worry about microplastics or chlorine-bleached tea bags in your cup. 😶 Balance & Bloom and WhiteRose’s Creations have their amazing blends in our farm store…come and experience them this Thursday-Saturday! 💐🍵

Hey, friends! I’m going to have to reschedule the Calendula Salve Live, but I’ll post the recipe if you have everything to make it — I hope y’all have a wonderful Sunday 🫶🏼

Calendula Salve 🌿

Ingredients:
1 cup of calendula infused oil
1 Tbsp shea butter (optional)
4 Tbsp beeswax pellets
essential oils - 10 drops for a mild scent or 15 drops for a stronger scent (optional)
dried calendula flowers (optional)

Tools:
-a spoon
-a double boiler
-containers for the salve, such as metal tins or glass jars

Directions:
-Set out the containers for the salve, removing the lids.
-Set up the double boiler, filling the lower pot half full with water, and placing the smaller empty pot on top.
-Boil the water, heating up the empty pot on the top of the double boiler.
-Add the calendula infused oil, beeswax and shea butter.
-Stir together as the ingredients begin to melt.
*If you don't have a double boiler, you can also set up a makeshift double boiler by placing a heat resistant glass bowl or measuring cup into a pot of hot water. -The beeswax and shea butter melt readily when warmed.
-Once melted remove the mixture from the heat.
-Add the essential oils, if you choose to do so.
-Carefully pour the mixture into the containers you have chosen for the salve.
-Do not move the containers while the salve is still liquefied.
*Be careful not to burn your fingers on the hot salve.
-Allow the salve to begin to set, then drop some dried calendula petals on top of the mixture for decoration. -The petals will stick to the still moist salve, however will not sink to the bottom at this stage.
-Allow the salve to completely cool on the counter top at room temperature. It will set and become solidified as it cools.
-Once completely cool, place the caps on the filled containers.

The salve is now ready to use! These also make wonderful gifts 😊

The first thing people usually bring up when you start talking about vaccination hesitancy is “But what about Polio??” I hate to break it to you, but a lot of what you hear in regards to Polio isn’t the whole truth.

First and foremost, only 1% of polio infections resulted in paralysis. The other 99% of the infections were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms. It was a very common virus, similar to the cold and flu virus.

Did you know that the “safety study” for the IPOL vaccine (the current Polio vaccine) was only conducted for 3 days with NO control group?

Polio rates were already in decline before the vaccine became available, but once it did become available, the diagnostic criteria became more specific. That means that overlapping symptoms from illness such as Lead Arsenate exposure, DDT poisoning, Coxsackie virus and Aseptic Meningitis couldn’t be labeled as “Polio” symptoms. Could that be why cases seemed to decrease dramatically? You tell me.

Fevers aren’t the enemy—they’re a sign that your immune system is working as it should. When the body raises its temperature, it creates an environment where viruses and bacteria struggle to survive while activating white blood cells to fight off infection. Suppressing a fever with medications like acetaminophen or ibuprofen may bring temporary relief, but it can also prolong illness by interfering with the body’s natural defense process.

Instead of rushing to lower a fever, focus on supporting the body through hydration, rest, and gentle remedies that encourage healing. Herbal teas, homeopathy, and warm baths can provide comfort without disrupting the immune response. However, in cases where fever management is truly needed, I’ve found a clean medicine company that offers acetaminophen without artificial fillers—something to keep on hand as a last resort. By allowing the fever to do its job, you’ll often recover more quickly and build long-term resilience against future illness.

Natural remedies aren’t designed to eliminate illness entirely, but they work to support your body’s natural healing process. Instead of suppressing symptoms, these remedies help your body move through illness more efficiently by addressing root causes and promoting detoxification, circulation, and immune function.

By allowing symptoms to run their course while gently supporting your body, you can decrease the duration and intensity of illness. Over time, this approach helps build resilience, making your immune system stronger and better equipped to handle future challenges. It’s not about avoiding sickness altogether but empowering your body to heal the way it was designed to.

While Tamiflu may be prescribed for flu treatment, it comes with serious side effects, including nausea, vomiting, hypothermia, seizures, hemorrhagic colitis, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, and many more. The drug carries a black box warning, the FDA’s most serious alert, due to potential neuropsychiatric side effects, especially in young children. Instead of turning to Tamiflu, consider these natural remedies that support your body’s healing process without the harmful side effects 🌿

12 Months of Herbal Healing 🌿
January Preparation: RSV Tea

Recipe:
20g licorice root
15g holy basil/tulsi
10g elderflower
10g mullein leaf

Directions:
To make a cup of tea, steep 1 tablespoon of herbs in 8-10 fluid ounces of water for adults (modify for children). Cover and let steep for 15-20 minutes. Strain and enjoy while hot.
*Be sure to use an extra-fine strainer to remove the tiny mullein leaf hairs, which can cause irritation!

Licorice root is contraindicated in those with edema and/or high blood pressure, so marshmallow root is a lovely substitution 🫶🏼

It is important to note that I am not a medical professional. This content is for informational purposes only. RSV and other respiratory infections may need emergency care, especially in young babies, older adults, and individuals with compromised immunity or chronic heart or lung conditions.
