Gen 2 Gen, Inc. d/b/a Home Instead Senior Care opened its doors to SE Dallas County, Ellis County and E Johnson County on June 14, 2010. Owners Gary and Angela Freeman each bring unique skills and experiences into their business.
For 30 years Gary served as a full-time minister of music in local churches (and still does part-time), always demonstrating a compassionate and pastoral heart to people of all ages. But since his childhood he has possessed a special affinity and affection for senior adults. After resigning full-time music ministry, Gary served as an interim executive director at Eden Estates (a 126-unit independent and assisted living retirement community in Bedford) in 2004. This positive experience led him to initiate Gary Freeman Entertainment, singing "Hits of the 1920's – 1960's + a Few Other Years" in senior adult venues across the DFW Metroplex. To date Gary has sung over 4000 shows in senior adult communities such as Independent Living, Assisted Living, Health & Rehabilitation, Memory Care, church senior adult groups, private parties (birthdays, anniversaries), garden clubs, and more.
Angela, a native of Dallas and a graduate of Kimball High School, grew up in a home where each parent owned his/her own small business. She saw first-hand what was required to initiate and grow a company. For several years she worked as a business systems analyst and project manager for Koch-Glitsch in Dallas, helping them develop a million-dollar software package.
At the encouragement of friends who are Home Instead Senior Care franchise owners in Virginia, Gary and Angela investigated becoming franchise owners themselves and found the corporation esteemed values that were dear to them…and ultimately felt the business gave them a superb opportunity to minister to the needs of senior adults, making a positive difference in their worlds while helping compassionate CAREGivers find a place of fulfillment.
