Simple Abundance

Simple Abundance Your locally owned health food store, providing whole foods for a healthy lifestyle since 2000. The staff is knowledgable, friendly and there to help YOU.

Opened in 2000, Simple Abundance strives to supply the area with a variety of organic, local and special dietary needs foods. We now carry over 100 local companies and continue to search out and support the small, privately owned companies from the midwest. In addition to foods, we spend a considerable amount of time with our customers researching and seeking out appropriate supplements for their lifestyle and providing health and beauty products that are "clean." Our bulk food section continues to grow, as we prioritize bringing down the cost of food for our customers. We offer discounts to everyone without any membership fees...we consider it a "thank you" to all of our loyal customers who continue to support Simple Abundance and help us to grow into the kind of store that meets the needs of everyone in the community. It's a fun place, stop by sometime!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone involved. The holiday magic lives on. 🎄

A Death Cafe is a place where strangers gather around a table of baked goods and a fresh batch of coffee or tea. The setting is informal and there’s no objective or agenda. After a short meet and greet, a facilitator guides a group in conversation around death. The conversation becomes an organic exploration. As reluctant as some attendees might feel, we learn that we can trust humans with the topic of death.

There’s no judgment or shame around the contemplation and sharing about death. The conversation might include death pre-planning or the fear of death. Wherever the conversation leads, we learn that we’re not alone in our concerns and thoughts about death.

Death Cafes are open to all persons regardless of gender, s*x, and belief system.

Join us at the Three Sisters Room TONIGHT 6-7pm.

For years, I’ve heard people say “Remember when there were lights downtown?” Or “I wish there were lights downtown again.”

It’s happening.

Thanks to a couple ladies (Red Wing Downtown Main Street Red Wing Area Chamber of Commerce)doing the leg work of getting the ball rolling and putting the bug in building owners ears and some generous donations of heavy equipment, it’s happening.

But the biggest thing I took from today was gratefulness for the people that showed up. They took time on their day off to better their community. Instead of just talking about change, they DID it.

There’s so many opportunities for this. You want lights downtown again? Show up. You love the Sheldon Theatre of Performing Arts? Be a volunteer usher. You enjoy the Red Wing Fall Arts Festival or Big Turn Music Festival? Contact Red Wing Arts. You have ideas for the Red Wing Holiday Stroll? I’m sure Downtown Mainstreet would accept your help. You’re concerned about people that don’t have enough? Check with the Red Wing Food Shelf. This isn’t even the tip of the iceberg.

In a time when people are struggling financially and/or emotionally, what better remedy than to give what you can (no money required!) and interact with people that have similar interests? Connect. I promise you’ll feel better.

BE the change. Let’s light up this town.

That’s a wrap for Linda! What we’ve learned of her the last 11 years:

She’s an avid biker (pedal, not Harley) and would ride in to work whenever the weather allowed.

Linda enjoyed a schedule and would complete tasks on the same day of each week. Wednesdays were for watering plants, Thursdays entering new customers and Fridays cleaning the bathrooms. She was the Queen of expiration dates, always on top of which products needed to be marked on sale to get out the door before the sell by date.

She loves dogs!

Linda wore flannel shirts often, especially purple, one of her favorite colors.

Some favorite treats include a coconut milk chai or matcha latte from Mandy's Coffee & Cafe and Gather and Graze Kitchen pumpkin bread.

Kind is not a strong enough word to describe her demeanor. If you’ve had the pleasure to meet her, you know what I mean by that.

Tomorrow begins a new era, Life After Linda. Wish us luck.

She will forever be part of the family and is irreplaceable after her 11 years with us. She’s on to enjoy life to the fullest with her family at home and on the road.

It’s the eve of All Hallows Eve, try not to get spooked by this ghouls vibes. 😱

This really is her trying to be scary. Maybe we need more practice. 😆
