I was in Dr Liz’s last spontaneous yoga for pain class and I highly recommend it.
Healing requires trying something new.
You know what your current habits, ways of thinking and being will get you. You’re there right now. If you feel great, I’m happy for you, keep it up. If you don’t feel so great, one of the best things you can do for yourself is to try new ways of being.
If you habitually push through pain, what would it be like to try tenderness? If you always avoid pain, what would it be like to try courage? It’s ok not to know, to feel scared, to not be good at it. You might feel as scared as a little baby bird, leaving the nest for the first time.
There’s no need to push or force, just start. Wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself a tender hug instead of berating yourself. Throw your chest forward courageously and say the thing you’ve always wanted to say out loud to yourself, rather than stuffing it down. You never know, you might learn to fly!
A group trying new things can be a great place to start experimenting. Spontaneous Yoga is a practice of gently, courageously venturing into the unknown together. I’m teaching live this Saturday noon to 1:00 PM EST Spontaneous Yoga for Pain: Upper Back, Shoulders, Arms, Elbows, and Wrists.
It’s a really special group of people. I’d love to have you join, if you’re not already signed up.
