Obituary For Michael John Foran
MICHAEL JOHN FORAN
December 15, 1947 – February 2, 2026

Michael John Foran went home to join his Lord on February 2, 2026.
Michael was born in Fond du Lac, WI, to John and Rita Foran. The family moved to Phoenix,
AZ, when Michael was five years old, then to Scottsdale, where he attended high school.
Michael met his wife Linda while they were attending Mesa Community College. The two were
married in 1969 and moved to northern California in the early 1970’s.
Michael worked for the Bureau of Reclamation for seventeen years, most of that time as a
hydroelectric powerplant electrician. He was injured on the job in 1989 while saving a
coworker’s life and went on permanent disability as a result of his injury.
The most important aspect of Michael’s life was his relationship with Jesus Christ. Michael
came to know Christ in 1982 after his wife and children attended a Vacation Bible School and
the family began attending Lewiston Community Church.
Michael and his family moved to Redding, CA, in 1991 and attended Cow Creek Community
Church in Palo Cedro. Michael became a lay elder at Cow Creek in 1993 and faithfully served
there until his death.
Michael also participated in Bible Study Fellowship for thirty-eight years, serving as a men’s
discussion leader beginning in 1991.
Michael is survived by his wife Linda, his children (Scott, Aric, and Mary), and his fourteen
grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Michael is planned for later this spring and will take place at Cow
Creek Community Church in Palo Cedro, CA.

Obituary For Emory Coleman Joplin
Emory “Bill” Coleman Joplin

Emory “Bill” Coleman Joplin, 88, of Lakehead, California, passed away on February 7, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and loyal friend, Bill lived a full life marked by laughter, service, and a love for the simple joys that mattered most.

Bill was best known for his love of water skiing, boating, camping, traveling, working on old cars—and, as anyone who knew him well would say, a good dose of BS-ing. He had a gift for conversation, a sharp sense of humor, and an easy way of making people feel at home. Time spent outdoors, on the water, or swapping stories with friends was time well spent in Bill’s book.

He proudly served in the United States Army before beginning a long and dedicated career as a pressman with the San Francisco Chronicle. His strong work ethic and reliability were hallmarks of both his professional and personal life.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine Joplin; his children Sandra Boyle (Craig Boyle), William Joplin (Kim Joplin), and Margie Wolosz (Chris Wolosz); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a large and loving family who will continue to carry his stories, values, and humor forward.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carmen Lasso; his brother, Lou; his sister, Janice; his daughter, Cindy Joplin; and his grandsons, Nathan and Mitchell Boyle.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to Penny Pines Plantation (a program that reforests in the Shasta Trinity Forest), c/o Redding Wonderland Garden Club:

Kari Cattanach 10418 Surrey Ln, Redding Ca 96003 Attention: Penny Pines

Or to Shriners Children’s Hospital—organizations that were close to his heart.

Bill’s legacy of love, laughter, service, and storytelling will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.
