Today is this gorgeous girl’s birthday! 15 years ago today God blessed me with a gift I never new I needed, a little girl. Now she isn’t so little.

She is strong.
She is fierce.
She is beautiful.
She stands up for what is right.
She hits the “That’s what she said jokes.” A little too on point for this mom.
She is funny.

The list could go on. Lilly we love you more than you will ever know and we are so proud of the young lady you are becoming. Happy birthday 🎂!

First book of 2023, A Man Called Ove (ooh- va).

I laughed, I cried and have a little hole in my chest.
-
This is not a book I would have normally picked up. I mean it’s about a grumpy old man who really isn’t grumpy but has a heart that is too big. It’s about a man who loves so deeply, that when it’s lost it’s really hard to live.

This isn’t about my plate but that empty chair…

Sometime I feel like God is giving me a glimpse of what is to come. My house is quiet. My kids are all gone. Here I sit, and eat dinner by myself.
-
It makes me think of a future that is growing nearer with each passing year. It is bitter, yet I know with the sting of growing pains there will be sweetness.
-
I hope that in the future when my children are gone, they are as happy as they are right now doing the things that keep them from home. The things that bring them joy- flipping, singing, dancing, working at a job that brings joy, lifting… all the things. I hope that for my children, because in the quiet moments like tonight, I too can find joy knowing they are okay, happy and fully loved and cared for by a God who loves them far more than I ever will.

In moments like tonight I will be a little happy for a slower pace, a little sad because I miss my kids and their chaos, and happy and proud that Tyler and I did a decent job raising kids who have quality character.
-
Thinking about this future brings tears to my eyes. Just mentioning Isaiah graduating, or the number of summers we have left will make me cry- heck I’m crying now. Maybe this is Gods way of preparing me for what is to come. God, just so you know- I’m not a big fan, but I trust you.

In an effort to keep my poorly trained
out of my bed, I bought him a stuffy to cuddle with.

I personally have zero faith that this will work because since he was a pup he has been my cuddle buddy. Now that he is a beast he keeps us from sleeping and his presence is not longer cute.
-
But enjoy my attempt to rescue my sleep.
