When you think you finally belong in a belt and you can coast for a while, you get promoted to the next challenge.

Receiving the next belt has always felt not like I’ve become that skill level, but that coach thinks you’re now prepared to step up and develop the skills necessary to wear that belt. The process begins, I hope I keep my feet and knees. It’s time to accept the challenge and put in the work to wear the belt with confidence.

I don’t think I would’ve gotten this far without the no B.S. spirit of and the amazing coaches.

Humbled, again.

It’s DAILY that I look at these girls and think, holy crap, how was I able to pull these two out of the bag??

I am grateful every day that I was somehow able to raise genuine, loving, sympathetic and seriously rad kids. They surprise me regularly with their generosity and their loving hearts. They remind me constantly what it is to be a good person. They are so much better than me, and I stand in awe seriously every.day that I get to be their mother.

As summer approaches swiftly, I am preparing my summer swim schedule and wanted to share the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

I have taught swimming for almost 19 years here in the Redding area, and am pleased to take a more active role in my mother’s great legacy of teaching young children to not only be safe in the water, but also to love and enjoy the water for life.

As the new owner of Swim Foundations, I’ll be heading the lesson schedule this year, and looking for areas where we can make improvements to better serve our community.

If you have any interest in becoming a swim instructor, we are always in need of growth in this field! Message me directly if you would like to learn about this process.

Margaret has been teaching swimming to young children in the Redding area for over 15 years. Her teaching experience encompasses private lessons, group lessons, master’s swimming classes, and adult and triathlon training. She swam competitively in U.S. age group swimming and currently specializes in teaching young children with autism.

Margaret has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Simpson University and also worked as a Behavioral Interventionist for Connections ABA in Redding where she worked with families with autistic children on play therapy, functional skills, sign language, and behavior. She is currently a high school and PE teacher at Roots Farm EDU.

I am so pleased to announce myself as the new owner of Swim Foundations! Swimming is a huge part of my family, and this foundation was created in support of my mother, Phoebe Natina’s, legacy to her many years of teaching children in and around the Redding area.
