Driving the Vote for Equality is making its way through California and is coming to Redding on May 8th!💚

Driving the Vote for Equality is a 25-state national tour to secure Congressional recognition of the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28th Amendment. Inspired by the 1916 suffrage drive of Alice Burke and Nell Richardson, the campaign deploys the restored Golden Flyer II — a replica of their original Saxon roadster — to collect one million petition signatures and demand that Congress act now.

Today is Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women / Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIW/MMIR) Awareness Day. 🪶

We stand in solidarity with Indigenous families, survivors, and communities across the nation as we raise awareness for the ongoing crisis of violence disproportionately impacting Indigenous women, girls, men, boys, and Two-Spirit individuals.❤️

This day serves as a powerful reminder that:
• More than 4 out of 5 Indigenous women experience violence in their lifetime
• Indigenous women face significantly higher rates of homicide and disappearance
• Many cases continue to go underreported or lack proper investigation

By wearing red, we honor those who are missing, remember those whose lives were taken, and support the movement for justice, visibility, and change. ✊🏾

Abortion Care Network Keep Our Clinics

The Shasta College Ethnic Studies department is honored to welcome back guest speaker Michael Preston, a member of the local Winnemem Wintu tribe. This engaging talk will reframe traditional discussions around "migration and borders" through an Indigenous and ecological lens. Preston will discuss the interconnectedness of land, water, and Native sovereignty, exploring how historical and colonial boundaries have impacted both the Indigenous peoples of this region and the ecological migration of the salmon that are central to their culture.
