Sneaking in one last PT hot tip!!! This one from Lili:
Let’s talk about containers!
Containers are anything like swings, seats, jumpers, walkers, carriers, cribs, etc that baby is placed in. Most containers are absolutely necessary (and let’s be real! We know mamas and dads need a potty break or need to get some stuff done around the house!), but the use of them
should be limited to 15 minute increments or as much as possible! When baby spends too much time in a container, they have less freedom to move their little bodies and practice their gross motor skills!
So let’s get baby on the floor more often through out the day! Floor time is appropriate for new born babies and on! :)
Here are some general ideas of what to do:
0-3 months: While on the floor, practice 4 positions which are all equally important. Lying on their back, on their side, on their tummy, sitting upright with support.
You can use toys to help them track, reach, read them books.
4-6 months: let’s get ready to roll! Practice rolling side to side, tummy to back and back to tummy.
6-9 months: practice sitting. Baby will need more help at first.
Then practice getting on hands and knees to prepare for crawling!
10-12 months: practice pulling to stand and cruising along furniture to prepare for walking!
