Final shape doesn’t happen overnight. 👇

After breast augmentation, it’s common for implants to look higher, firmer, or more “new” in the early stages of healing. That doesn’t mean something is wrong — it usually means your body is still adjusting.

Most patients reach their final result around 4–6 months, although many begin seeing a softer, more natural-looking shape closer to 3 months.

Implants need time to settle.
Swelling needs time to resolve.
The body needs time to heal.

Understanding that timeline can make the recovery process feel a lot less stressful — and help set realistic expectations from the start.

Considering breast augmentation? A consultation with Dr. Rau can help you understand your options, your expected recovery timeline, and what results may look like based on your anatomy and goals.

Breast asymmetry is common — and in many cases, it can be improved thoughtfully with surgery.

For some patients, that means using a smaller implant on the larger breast and a larger implant on the smaller breast to help create better balance.

When the asymmetry is more significant, though, implants alone may not be enough. Differences in breast shape, excess skin, or natural breast tissue may require a reduction or additional reshaping on the larger side.

The goal is not simply to make both breasts “the same” — it’s to create better overall symmetry based on your anatomy.

Every surgical plan is individualized.
A consultation helps determine what approach makes the most sense for you.

When patients talk about wanting their eyes to look more refreshed, they are often noticing a loss of lid definition.

For this 47-year-old female patient, the goal was a clearer upper lid with smooth, natural-looking contour beneath the eyes. Her upper and lower blepharoplasty addressed upper lid hooding and refined the lower eyelid area, creating a more defined result while keeping her look natural.

Upper blepharoplasty can help reduce heaviness caused by excess skin of the upper lid. Lower blepharoplasty can improve puffiness or shadowing below the eyes, depending on a patient's anatomy and treatment plan.

The best outcomes are individualized and designed around what each patient is seeing in the mirror.

If you're noticing the eye area has started to feel heavy, tired, or less defined, a consultation can help determine the right approach.

Q: I’ve already had breast augmentation… and I wish I had gone one size bigger. Would that have made a big difference?

A: Not necessarily.

When we’re talking about going “one size up,” we’re usually referring to a 25–50cc difference. That’s a very subtle change. It may slightly fill your bra more, but it typically will not change your bra size.

If you truly want to see a noticeable difference in the mirror, you’re generally looking at closer to 100cc. That’s when we start seeing visible changes — and possibly a shift into the next cup size, depending on how you’re currently fitting.

Revision surgery should be thoughtful — not impulsive.
In consultation, we review your anatomy, current implant size, and your goals to determine what change will actually deliver the result you’re envisioning.

If you’re considering going bigger, schedule a consultation so we can discuss what will realistically make an impact — and what won’t.

Q: “How long until I see my final results?”

This is one of the most common questions after breast augmentation.

Most patients are told to expect their final outcome around 4-6 months. That’s when everything has fully settled. But in many cases? You’ll start seeing results closer to 3 months.

After surgery, implants gradually settle into position. Early swelling can make things look higher or firmer than they’ll ultimately be. Healing is a process - and understanding that timeline helps in a successful recovery.

“What if you have very little natural breast tissue - does that change your options?

Absolutely. And that’s where thoughtful planning matters most.

For Patients starting at an A cup or with thin tissue, implant selection isn’t just about size. It’s about:
• Choosing a narrower implant so we don’t extend beyond your natural breast boundaries.
• Often selecting a higher profile implant for better proportion
• Frequently placing the implant under the muscle for added support and camouflage.

The goal? A result that looks natural, soft, and balanced - especially in the upper breast where thin tissue can otherwise show sharp edges.

Every body is different. The right implant is the one that fits you.

Ready to explore your options?

Chooseing the right implant isn’t just about ”cc’s.” It starts with the patient’s anatomy.

Before recommending a profile or size, the patient’s anatomy comes first such as:
• Chest width
• Natural breast width (Breast base)

1️⃣ Too narrow of an implant on a wide chest? The patient’s final results won’t balance.
2️⃣ Too wide of an implant on a narrower chest? We risk cleavage rubbing or too much side breast. (If that is not the patient’s desired results.)

The goal is harmony between your anatomy and your size goals. That’s how we create results that look natural and feel right for you.
