New friend alert!!
Please give a Y6 welcome to the wonderful Elli as she rejoins the and families!! She describes her yoga journey like this...
As someone who's managed a chronic condition for over half my life, yoga found me fairly early on. I started practicing when I was 18 years old in my tiny little dorm room with just barely enough room for a yoga mat. And from there, the trajectory of my life truly started to change. I went from someone considering medical school, to feeling deeply drawn to the yogic path and everything it has to offer, to myself, but especially others.
I graduated from UW with a BS in Biology: Physiology in 2022, completed my 200HR training soon after, and have been teaching and managing a Seattle studio ever since.
I’m a very transparent person by nature - I truly believe sharing the full spectrum of our human experience with those around us benefits not only others, but ourselves too. So on that note, I was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Endometriosis and Adenomyosis, conditions I’ve battled since I was 12, along with a spinal injury, hip surgery at the early age of 15, and a severe concussion a couple years back.
I share all of this because I strongly believe in the empowering nature of vulnerability, and because these challenges have shaped me into someone committed to supporting others, building community, and spreading joy. Each and every person we come into contact with is navigating and/or battling something that we don’t even know the half of, and the more light, space, and community that we can share with others, the better. This is where yoga comes in.
In my free time, you’ll find me hiking, backpacking, camping, or simply lying in a field of grass listening to all the sounds of nature. I love to cook, bake, create fun playlists, dance around my kitchen, read all the fantasy novels, attend concerts, and move in ways that connect me to life!
I can’t wait to dive into this community and meet you all soon! You can find me GM-ing in Redmond and teaching mobility Wednesdays nights at 7p in Sammamish.
