Hospice of Redmond

Hospice of Redmond Hospice care is designed to focus on quality of life for the terminally ill patient.

To enhance the quality of life for patients and families by providing the highest level of compassionate hospice care and bereavement services for our Central Oregon community. Our goal is to enable patients to be as comfortable and as free of symptoms and pain as possible, so that they live each day as fully as possible. We believe in treating the patient holistically, honoring their life and their wishes. Our philosophy is to provide support for the patient’s emotional, social, and spiritual needs as well as medical symptoms management as part of treating the whole person. We incorporate a small team approach in providing compassionate personalized care for each patient. Our primary focus is our patients and their families, who we serve with dignity and respect. We believe that our patients have a right to participate in all decisions about their care. We offer suggestions based on sound medical practices but it is our patient’s life and ultimately our patient’s choice as to what will help them on this very personal journey.

Do you know someone with a dementia diagnosis who could use more support?

Hospice of Redmond offers a free Transitions program designed to help individuals and families navigate the challenges of a life-limiting illness, including dementia.

This isn't hospice care. It's a non-medical support program that can provide:
✅ Emotional support to ease feelings of isolation.
✅ Help connecting with community resources.
✅ Respite care to give caregivers a much-needed break.
✅ Companionship from a network of trained volunteers.

The best part? You don't need a doctor's referral to get started. If you or a loved one could benefit, contact us to learn more. You are not alone on this journey.

As people age, it's common for them to spend more time alone, often due to poor health, the loss of a partner, or caregiving responsibilities. This increased social isolation can lead to serious health problems like depression, heart disease, and cognitive decline.

Let's make an effort to combat senior loneliness. You can make a huge difference by scheduling regular time to be together each week or a couple of times a month, or by simply scheduling calls. Your connection matters! ❤️

We're honored to share the story of Carol and her husband, Bob, who receive support through our free Transitions program. In this video, Carol opens up about their experience and the incredible support they received.

The Transitions program is designed for people living with a serious illness who may not be ready for hospice care, but need extra support. Our team walks alongside patients and families, providing an extra layer of care and guidance as they navigate their health journey.

Click the link in our bio to watch Carol's full story. We hope her words bring comfort and awareness to others who may be facing a similar situation.

Fighting about the past only hurts the present. When caring for someone with dementia, it's not about being 'right.' It's about being compassionate. Let go of the need to correct and simply be with them in the moment. 💛

Is your loved one experiencing brain change? The most important thing is shifting your focus from the label (like 'dementia') to the person you cherish.

This month's blog is a guide on making that shift. Learn practical ways to support them:

Understand why their communication is changing.
Use simple, visual cues (and why arguing never helps!).
Preserve their dignity by meeting them in their current reality.

Caring for someone with brain change is a journey, and our free Transitions program can help. Get guidance and support today.

"Fundraising is not about money, it is about relationships."

For 6 years now, an incredible family (& their network of supporters) has raised money for two nonprofit Central Oregon hospices -- our own and Partners in Care. is a 501c3 organization with a mission to help those facing life threatening illnesses in the Bend/Redmond area. Their impact on our organization is significant, and we are so looking forward to next year's Luau.

Raising money is so much more fun when you get to do it with friends. THANK YOU!!!

If you have a family member who is facing a terminal illness, gather their stories and history so that you can create a legacy book on their behalf. It truly is one of the greatest gifts one can give to their family.

A person's story doesn't have to end with their passing. If you know someone in their final chapter of life, consider creating a Legacy Book to share their personal history with generations to come. A Legacy Book often includes photographs, letters, and other memorabilia that capture their story. The books can be made personally, or there are companies that specialize in creating these treasures, like Storyworth: https://f.mtr.cool/jrbpvvaocb

Giving a listening ear is a wonderful way to spend time with a loved one nearing the end of life.

Let your loved one take the conversation where they want. Provide them with space to share their feelings – all of them.

Let them get out the words they need to say.

Be there to support them and respond with love and honesty. If their thoughts are in another time and place, be there with them. Rather than trying to reason with them, ask questions about what they are experiencing at that moment. Be there to support them wherever they are in their mind.
