☀️What did we do on our week off from the office? More dentistry! Dr. Steph headed to Grenada with her daughter, Kira, to provide free dental services with Great Shape, Inc. and their 1000 Smiles Project. It doesn’t feel like work when making a difference in people’s lives! ❤️‍🩹
Through and the Sandals Foundation, so many communities in need of urgent dental care throughout the Caribbean can be helped each year. 🤗
Many patients (both kids and adults) came in with anxiety and dental pain, and left with gratitude and hope for a brighter future. 🙏 💖 Hundreds of cleanings and sealants were done on kids by the hygiene program to promote preventive care.
Kudos to the incredible team of dentists, hygienists, students, and support staff for working 40+ hours in 86 degrees and humidity, and making it a memorable and fulfilling week! 🎉

Graduation vibes are here and we have 3️⃣ Class of 2025 grads in our own RKD family! 🙌 👨‍🎓

🎓 Dr. Steph and Dr. Charoenkul’s son, Alex, is graduating Cal Poly with his Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science!

🎓 Courtney’s son, Brody, is graduating from Woodinville High School and will be attending culinary school!

🎓 Kari’s son, Leo, is also graduating Woodinville High School and plans to attend the University of Washington!

Congrats to these kiddos on their accomplishments and we’re excited to celebrate them as they enter a new chapter of their lives 🥳

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and a reminder to slow down and be present 🌅

In dentistry, we’ve learned that the small wins matter—
A nervous patient who makes it through a cleaning.
A child who smiles after a cavity is filled.
Someone who finally books that appointment they’ve been putting off.
These moments may seem minor, but they’re victories—for them, and for us! 🥳

In a world that moves fast and unpredictably, let’s take the time to celebrate progress, no matter the size. 

Because good mental health, for both patients and providers, thrives in patience, empathy, and encouragement 🤗

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month 👄

Oral cancer is most common in adults over the age of 40, with the highest rates seen in those aged 50–74.

But it’s important to know: oral cancer can also affect children, though it’s rare. In kids, it’s typically linked to genetic disorders or immune system conditions.

💡Tip: Bumps or patches that resolve after 2 weeks are not typically cancerous.

Top causes of oral cancer in adults include:
• 🚬 To***co use (smoking or chewing)
• 🍷 Heavy alcohol consumption
• 🦠 HPV (Human Papillomavirus) infection
• ☀️ Excessive sun exposure (especially for lip cancer)

Early detection saves lives. 🔍
Check your mouth monthly, look for unusual sores or lumps, and don’t skip dental visits!

Let’s raise awareness and encourage regular screenings to protect people of all ages!

🎉 Please help us welcome Meagan to Redmond Kids’ Dentistry! Since day one, she has brought her passion for caring for her patients along with excellent assisting skills and a wonderful smile that makes anyone’s day! Here’s a little intro from Meagan herself:

👋 “Hi! I’ve had the pleasure of being a pediatric dental assistant since 2020. Growing up as an Army brat, I moved all over the country (and to Germany!) before finally settling here in Washington. I’m passionate about helping kids feel comfortable and at ease during their dental visits, while making the experience fun and positive. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, road trips, playing video games, and spending quality time with my friends, family, boyfriend, and our pup, Charles.”
