We’re happy to kick off the holiday season by celebrating the spirit of giving and gratitude at Emerald Heights.

Our dedicated team of 10 resident Toy Makers works year-round to bring joy to children and families across our region. This season, they handcrafted an incredible 336 wooden toys, all donated to seven local charities.

In addition to the toys, the group also created six life-size winter figures for Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center to feature in their holiday lights showcase and fundraiser.

This tradition is one of the most heartwarming parts of our year, and we’re proud to share the creativity, care, and community spirit behind each piece.

This year, our Social Accountability Committee will award $305,000 in grants to local nonprofits making a meaningful difference in our greater community.

At Emerald Heights, we are deeply committed to giving back and supporting organizations whose work strengthens lives, uplifts older adults, and enhances well-being across our region. We’re honored to help advance the vital programs and services these partners provide, and grateful for the residents and team members who guide this important initiative each year.

Residents and team members came together for a festive Halloween gathering filled with laughter, creativity, and plenty of clever costumes, from imaginative individual looks to group ensembles that brought extra spirit to the day. Residents will have a chance to vote for their favorites, with top prizes for the best individual and group costumes.

There was even a bit of mischief on campus grounds, courtesy of a certain neighbor from under the sea spotted “helping” with leaf duty.

A joyful day that brought smiles to every corner of campus!

October has been full of celebrations at Emerald Heights, including a big milestone for our Executive Director, Grant Linacre, who recently marked 10 years of leadership!

Longevity and consistency make a lasting difference in a community like ours. Over the past decade, Grant’s curiosity, vision, and commitment to our mission have helped shape a culture of connection, trust, and belonging that residents can truly feel every day.

Today, on First Responders Day, we honor the incredible first responders who serve our communities with courage, skill, and compassion every day.

We’re especially grateful for our local partners at Medic One Foundation, whose lifesaving work helps ensure our region’s pre-hospital emergency care is among the best in the nation. Their commitment to training, innovation, and support makes all the difference when every second counts.

It’s an honor to stand alongside organizations like Medic One Foundation in recognizing and supporting the extraordinary professionals who answer the call when it matters most.

Ngoc Vu—affectionately known across campus as Mama Vu—recently celebrated 33 incredible years with the Emerald Heights Environmental Services team. Now serving as our EVS Lead, her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit have touched the hearts of residents and team members alike.

We were so honored to gather together to celebrate Mama Vu, share stories, enjoy some delicious treats, and reflect on the countless ways she has made Emerald Heights such a special place to call home.
