Hi everyone! Some of you are trying my dairy challenge (which is getting a free massage in exchange for consuming no dairy for 1 month), so I wanted to give you some support. Here's my list of favorite dairy alternatives. Feel free to share anything you have tried and would like to share with others. Have fun!

DAIRY ALTERNATIVES

Milk:

Unsweetened nut milks like
Almond Breeze: Coconut/almond, almond
So Delicious: Cashew milk (does contain a few almonds)

Rice milk and plain coconut milk can be a little bland
You can also explore and make some of your own! There are many recipes posted on line.

Cheese:

Follow Your Heart-Smoked Gouda, Provolone (Mozarella doesn’t really taste like Mozarella but is somewhat good).

Daiya- Shredded mozzarella and cheddar (the other types of block and sliced cheeses are not so great.

Chao- Super yummy but a bit spendy. Also made of soy, so can be a bit constipating.

I would stay away from the other cheeses to start off with. They take some getting used to, and some of them are made with milk protein.

Pizza-
Amy’s pizza has a version that is gluten free and dairy free
Daiya has a gluten fee and dairy free version as well.

Ice Cream-
By far the best is the So Delicious Cashew ice cream. My favorite is the salted Caramel. There are other brands which are good, but my favorite is the Cashew. Yummmm.

Yogurt and Coffee creamers: there are a few different types of yogurts and coffee creamers. You can also easily make your own yogurt.

All of these items can be found at Natural Grocers and Whole Foods. Fred Meyer has many of them in their natural foods section in the cold foods isle.

Good information! I am not a nutritionist, but have discovered that people who have inflammation in their bodies can often decrease their pain from not only massage and bodywork, but watching what they eat. People often ask me what they can do to help themselves at home. Watching what you eat is a great home remedy for keeping pain away and muscles less tense. Stretching and exercising is great too, but diet is often not included in many self help remedies. This is why I often mention good dietary tricks for helping muscles and joints feel good...as well as for staying healthy overall.
