Deep Tissue Massage Massage is not a luxury but a medical necessity

One unfulfilled destiny is a loss for humanity as a whole.
When I was 14 my mom asked me what I wanted to be and with out hesitation I said, massage therapist and went back to what I was doing. I’ve been torn in different directions but the path I kept gravitating towards was massage. I now have over 12 years of experience. I believe that it is not a luxury but a medical necessity. I believe by manipulating the tissue I can create change. I create change not chemically or surgically but with my hands. It’s pretty amazing actually.
I have a client that could barely walk when she first came in. She looked forward to her retirement in three months. I asked her what made her happy. She said, “golf, but I haven’t been able to golf in 15 years”. I said, “ok then that is my goal……to get you back to golf”. Three months later she sent me a picture from Arizona swinging a club. The text just said, “thank you”.
I have another client who struggled with scoliosis and had a high paying job so she paid full price. Over the course of a few months her spine got straighter and straighter to the point I had to keep checking my notes to see what kind of curve she had to begin with. After one of her appointments she said, “I’m sorry but I don’t think I’m going to be able to see you anymore”. She said, “I know I need it but I lost my job and can’t afford it”. I smiled really big and said “you know what this means?….. This only means you get a massive discount to as little as zero dollars”. She started crying and gave me a huge hug. I was able in that moment to be the incredibly blessed person to give her hope. I have had so many moments like this. I have a farmer that trades me for products. I have students. I have teachers, nurses, construction workers, doctors, tech CEOs, ect. My clientele is composed of a variety of people from all different economic backgrounds.
I’ve always wanted to do something on a macroscopic scale to help people. I just thought I would need to work really hard and make tons of money to make that happen. I realized I don’t need to wait until I have millions of dollars to support the community I serve. I can do it now with what I have to give. There are so many that struggle everyday and what I can offer is support. Offering a sliding scale based on income made sense to me. If we can reach a helping hand across barriers and offer support to just one person we can collectively change this world for the good. It doesn’t just benefit that person, it makes the person who is offering the support feel blessed as well. I believe every life is of equal value. We all have different gifts that need nurturing. When one of us falls off the path we are meant to be on due to lack of support the world becomes a little dimmer. One unfulfilled destiny is a loss for humanity as a whole.
There was a point in time I found myself a single homeless mother of 2. I called everywhere for shelter but all of them were full. The person on the phone with me said, “Well, currently there are over 2,000 homeless women with children on the streets of Seattle not in a shelter because they are all full.” This was in 2010. I told myself that someday I would change that. I told myself that the moment I would be in a position to help that I would. I needed a hand up. I needed a form of support to get on the path I was meant to be on.
I know now that I’m on the path I’m meant to be on. I’m the person to offer this and know what it truly means. I’m meant to find the person that needs to work to survive but can’t work due to physical hurdles. I’m meant to be there to reach out my hand despite their inability to pay and help them. Hope is powerful. To give hope to those that have lost it changes the game altogether.
I started this over a year ago not knowing what would happen but willing to accept any outcome. The feedback is that the community supports this and you’ll be happy to hear business is doing well. I’m predicting after I post to Redmond I might need to expand. I hope I do so I can offer more support to more people on the macroscopic scale I dreamed I would someday.

Massage is a calling for those who understand the physical realm of the human body and can connect that with the emotional well-being of the client. I am proud to say this is my calling and this is how I help my community and offer support.

What you do and who you are as a whole affects your structural integrity. This is why some divine intervention is necessary. This is not a typical Swedish relaxation massage. What I do is meant to effect some real change in your health and well being. Whether you are a doctor, construction worker, football player, or work in the service industry the key to treating you is seeing how the repetitive motions you do throughout the day affect you. If a therapist does not see all of you they can not treat you properly. I take into account how your emotional well being plays a role in your muscle memory and overall posture as well.

I am so incredibly motivated to give this message to everyone: Massage is a medical necessity not a luxury.

As a massage therapist I slowly worked to educate people on an individual level about what I see and how to move forward. In essence I lured clients one by one from the love of relaxation (which is beneficial, I’m not denying that) to the necessity of therapeutic and how it might benefit them personally. I loved working at Gene Juarez because they taught me how to take pride in what I do, put service to others above all else, and how to master my craft. Perfection is what they sought and I appreciated that. I mean who doesn’t love to be pampered and have every need predicted before you say a word? When I started to realize just how impactful what I did was I felt an overwhelming sense of pain for the people that need it but can’t afford it. To some it could mean the difference of getting back to work to feed their families. I could help. When GJ got rid of the massage program I knew I needed to do. I offer massage on a sliding scale based on income.
