Nicole Armour, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Nicole Armour, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist offering individual and couples therapy in the South Bay and throughout CA. Let’s find it together.

Supervised by Rebecca Newton LMFT 104658. Areas of focus: couples therapy, anxiety, relational issues, life changes and transitions, managing disappointment and loss, and low self-esteem. Life is full of surprises and challenges that can make us feel stuck and unsure of how to make a change. While the path may feel unclear, you do not have to walk it alone. Coming from a place of empathy, acceptance, and curiosity, I work alongside couples and individuals to explore and understand what patterns and behaviors are not working for them and discover ways to create transformation in their lives and relationships. I would love to meet you where you are and walk with you on your path to healing and growth. In my work, I value building a collaborative relationship where we work as a team. I believe we all possess intrinsic strengths and I use a person-centered, holistic approach to support you in using those strengths to create meaningful change. A clearer, more fulfilling path is out there.

I get it. Being organized and productive has a lot of positives. Your are likely a high achiever in your career and make the most out of your time. Those are great strengths. However, perfectionism has its struggles, too. It’s hard to try and get everything “right” all the time. We are holding ourselves to an impossible standard and it leaves us feeling exhausted and frustrated. Are you struggling with the traits on this list? DM for a 15-minute consultation call to see how we can work together to manage the struggles of perfectionism through therapy.

Did you know that not all couples fight the same way? Therapist Sue Johnson has identified three distinct conflict styles of distressed couples. Today, we are looking at the "Protest Polka" style.

These couples are characterized by one member who often criticizes and one who withdraws. The "critic" is seeking connection while the withdrawer is seeking safety and neither member is getting their needs met. Neither connection or safety are found and the relationship instead becomes lonely and unsafe for the partners.

Did you know that not all couples fight the same way? Therapist Sue Johnson has identified three distinct conflict styles of distressed couples. Today, we are looking at the "Find the Bad Guy" style.

These couples are always on edge. They are always anticipating the next attack and become focused on finding the "bad guy," the one who is to blame. Accusing, criticizing, and shaming is the norm. These couples usually have lost the ability to confide in their partner, meaning safety is gone and defenses are up.
