So happy to see this study! These are techniques that I use daily in my work, as I find them to be both gentle and effective.

A recent study highlights the transformative effects of Neural Mobilization for individuals suffering from chronic low back pain. Read More: https://bit.ly/48VSP2Y or Barralinstitute.com Searchable Article Database

With just 10 sessions, participants experienced:

🌟 70% Pain Reduction: Achieved through targeted neural mobilization techniques.
🌟 Enhanced Mobility: Lumbar spine mobility increased by 25.5%, and hip joint flexibility improved significantly.
🌟 Improved Quality of Life: Marked improvements in physical capabilities and reduced disability levels.
🌟 Cytokine Modulation: Decreased pro-inflammatory cytokines and increased anti-inflammatory cytokines, paving the way for better recovery and reduced inflammation.

Neural Manipulation (NM) facilitates free movement of the nerves in their surroundings; that is, in relation to adjacent muscles, fascia, narrow passages in the aponeurosis, organs and bones. Explore how you can integrate NM into your practice. Visit BarralInstitute.com and take the first step towards mastering this impactful therapy!

Pleased to announce a workshop with Jan Sultan in Venice CA, September 26-28 2024

The Relationship of the Neck and Lower Back

This three-day workshop will focus on the relationship between the neck and lower back. All of the Rolfing® recipes include a bit of neck work and a pelvic lift. I want to clarify the underlying elements that will make this aspect of our work more coherent and easier to understand.

Dr Rolf taught that the distinction between the “neck work” and the “pelvic lift” was that the pelvic lift tended to sedate the client and ground them, while the neck work would energize and bring them to alertness.

The neck has the job of transmitting all of the adaptive demands into the cranium where motion is essential to good balance. We will delve into the articular layers, from Occiput to second ribs in our explorations.

The low back centers on the sacrum, and its immediate relationship to the lower lumbars and the ilia. This vital region is where the support and motion functions of the legs meet the spine and create the pelvis. Good motion continuity here ensures support and balance. We will examine and palpate this region to raise our skill in pattern recognition, and application, to establish normal motion here.

This class is for those with structural integration training, and provides 3 DIRI required intermediate credits and 22.5 NCBTMB hours.

Registration is through the Rolf Institute:

Happy Birthday to Dr. Ida Rolf!

Happy Birthday to Dr. Ida Rolf!

Ida P. Rolf, who was born on 19th May 1896, developed Rolfing® Structural Integration. This bodywork method rests on her insight that the body is more at ease and functions most effectively when its structure is balanced in gravity.

Ida Rolf observed that over time, the field of gravity accentuates the body’s imbalances and diminishes its flexibility. To reduce gravity’s adverse effects on the body, she developed her original method of hands-on manipulation - which later became known as Rolfing® Structural Integration. Essentially, the Rolfing process enables the body to regain the natural integrity of its form, thus enhancing postural efficiency and freedom of movement.

Excellent work!

This study, published in The Journal of Physical Therapy Science, was to investigate the feasibility of using Neural/Visceral Manipulation as a safe and effective intervention to increase neck range of motion of infants with congenital muscular torticollis.

Conclusion: Neural/visceral manipulation can be used safely in infants with congenital muscular torticollis to improve neck range of motion.

Reassembling Women After Childbirth with Sharon Wheeler
Redondo Beach, California February 18-19, 2024

A focused class for those who have taken at least one ScarWork class.

Many factors contribute to women having structural and functional trouble after childbirth.

Vaginal delivery, C-section, VBAC and assisted vaginal delivery (forceps or vacuum extraction) are mentioned in medical literature as the four most common delivery options.

Each of these delivery methods may cause structural damage to the mother. Women accept this damage as a normal consequence of having children.

This workshop addresses these structural distortions women acquire.

It gives you a way to help them regain much of what they have lost.
Thank you Mamma.
