Loneliness doesnāt always show up the way we expect.
Our VP of Clinical Services, Lindsey Rae Ackerman, LMFT, CHHC, recently spoke with HuffPost about a form of loneliness that often catches people off guard ā ācontrast loneliness,ā also known as post-social loneliness.
āIf youāve ever come home after spending time with others only to find yourself feeling sad, you have likely experienced ācontrast loneliness,āā Lindsey shared. āThis phenomenon is also called post-social loneliness ā and itās not uncommon.ā
The article explores different types of loneliness, what triggers them, and how we can better recognize and cope with these emotions ā especially in work environments where disconnection can quietly take hold.
Itās a powerful reminder that even in a room full of people, someone can feel alone ā and that mental health support, awareness, and empathy matter more than ever.
