Congratulations to the newest LA Birth Bliss HypnoBirthing family on the block!
These amazing first-time parents only made it to 3 of the 5 HypnoBirthing classes, because their baby girl arrived early - and they still had a beautiful, calm, and all-natural birth!
Here is some of the birth story in the new mama's words: "On Monday, I had a full day planned. I went to my pre-natal yoga class in the morning, then I went to acupuncture for treatment of my swollen feet and legs. For my final appointment of the day, I had a pre-natal massage. While my legs were getting massaged, I felt a "pop" and a gush, and my waters broke around 5pm. I didn't tell the massage therapist since I didn't want to alarm her.
I called my husband and told him to come home because I was staring to feel surges. I called my doula to alert her that I thought my waters had broken. At home, I took a quick shower then put on an adult diaper. Water was gushing out into the pad so I knew that my waters really had broken.
After loading up the car, we listened to the HypnoBirthing audio tracks on the drive to the hospital and arrived at UCLA Westwood at 6:45pm. We were very lucky that the head midwife and the chief resident were on call that night to attend our birth. After being admitted, the resident did a cervical check and I was 5cm dilated and my cervix was completely effaced. I was concerned about being able to handle the surges at this point, but hearing I was 5cm dilated was good news. And I was constantly doing HypnoBirthing breathing techniques this entire time.
I labored in multiple positions-- lying on left side, lying on right side, leaning over the bed, and even straddling the toilet seat which was quite comfortable. For every single surge, my husband and my doula were helping me through, so that I could focus on my breathing. They did joint hip squeezes by putting pressure on both my hips. Without the Hypnobirthing breathing techniques, it probably wouldn't have gone as smoothly as it did. A little after midnight, I had another cervical check and I was fully dilated to 10cm.
I pushed and breathed down the baby for just under 2 hours and she was born around 2am. I listened to the Birth Affirmations and Rainbow Relaxations for most of the final 2 hours. The surges were intense, but I was able relax and rest in between the surges. I was constantly taking sips of juice in between the surges, and at no point did I feel like I was too tired to go on -- I had plenty of energy.
We had a successful HypnoBirthing experience of natural childbirth, with no pain medication and no tearing. Thank you so much for helping us have the birth experience that we wanted!"
Wow, we are so thrilled to hear your beautiful birth story and we wish your family a lifetime of joy and happiness together! Congratulations!
