I guess you could say I was already doing it and the idea struck. As I was reaching a turning point in my life, I began wondering where I was actually heading. I was giving tips to a friend who wanted to start a workout program, diet, etc., and she asked me, "why are YOU not a trainer?"

And there it was. I decided to go for it. I buckled down and got my certification with NASM. It has been one of the most difficult and fulfilling things I have done and I couldn't be more excited to bring my love for fitness to others. With my brand and my continuing education, I hope to bring a little something extra to the table. I hope to help others find what I found inside myself over the years. I hope to help them transform their lifestyle into something just a little more fulfilling. For me, it's never been about losing weight. It's always been about balancing my busy life with my adventurous mind. Losing weight and gaining self esteem is just the bonus of it all. If your mind is in it, your body will follow. No matter what it takes. If dedication is in your mind, it will be in your bones. I hope to ease that treacherous path and let others know that I have been there. Maybe not in body, but in mind. And no matter the struggles, they can be pushed through and overcome. I hope to take personal training to a new level to help those in need of a transformation. To help make a healthy lifestyle fun and easy. To make people see that working out is hard work, but necessary to a fulfilling life.

I was going through my New Year, New Energy Workshop that I forgot about and would like to bring back. I’m thinking of doing it around Spring Solstice as that is when I always feel like the new year truly begins for me. (I’m also an Aries ♈️ so it makes sense as it is the true rotation of the sun for me ☀️)

Anywho… I came across this acronym I created and it was a good reminder that change is not overnight. It is not a 30 day challenge. It is not just stop this and start that.

Change is so small that most of the time you don’t even see it until you look back and are able to compare and reflect.

Change isn’t in the big announcements or accomplishments. It is in the minutes of time in between.

Change is in the consistency, the routines and in the mundane. It’s in the minute by minute choices you make that begin to shift your days, weeks and then years.

Change is all around and ready for us in every minute of the day. Change is in the mindset, the observation and the perception.

Change is in the consistency of your choices.

Growth can come in spurts at times, but real expansion shows up slowly.

Remember this when you want things overnight. Instant gratification has control of our society, but change that truly matters will need your patience.

Don’t be surprised when you look back and realize how far you’ve come without realizing it.

Choose Grace for yourself this year. It’s ok if it feels like things are moving slow. I promise you are still growing 🌱

I swear the new year comes so fast that I am never really prepared to be ‘new’. I think about goals in December but they never get written down. I don’t have a vision board, a new journal or a plan of action. For many years I felt like I already failed before it even began.

Until I learned why I felt this way. I realized that it is not a new beginning for me. My actions aren’t aligning with my thoughts because my body hasn’t fully leaned into the right time for change -for me- and for many many others as well. ✨

Everyone is different, so why would it even make sense that we all have to ‘change’ or do all of the same things at the same time? Just because there is a program or collective cycle, doesn’t mean it is meant for everyone. This ends up being a trap that people fall into that sets them up for failure.

The end of the year is a whirlwind for most. It is full of traveling, extra work hours, indulging, stressing and celebrating. New Year’s Eve is a big party and then the very next day it is time to diet, exercise everyday, save money, quit smoking, organize your life & start a book club. We go from 100 miles an hour to 0 over night. While these are great goals, if you don’t establish a clear mindset on how to accomplish them, motivation will be lost quickly.

Mind aside, the body needs time to adjust. During adjustment periods, the body will throw out signals. It will seek old, familiar habits to find the balance & familiarity it knows. It will search for the comfort & stimulation that it is used to.

When we are changing habits, it is important to create a mindset that is going to hold steady when the body starts to waiver...because it is the body that waivers, not the mind.

Before setting goals it is a good time to ask yourself some questions:

Is this the right time of year for ME to make major adjustments? Did I set TOO many goals at once that my body cannot handle? Do these goals CONFLICT WITH each other in some way? Did I plan for obstacles & how to maneuver them? Did I jump into action BEFORE establishing a mindset?

Jury Selection is no joke… and now I get why. Something important that I didn’t touch on is that it also was a reiteration that you never ever ever can truly know what other people are living with each day.

Welcome to my non-profit project! 👏🏼
A project created for those who are having trouble communicating with others about something they wish to speak about🗣️

Communication and presence in the modern world can be challenging for ADULTS so imagine how it can feel to be a child lacking the tools to fully express yourself to those that you desperately want to understand you. With everyone attached to a phone or computer, distraction is the norm. With social media & in school bullying at an all-time high and with communication avenues changing, I feel that children may be stuck in a whirl wind of communication confusion that could be fueling anxiety and depression.

I held my Can I Tell You Something? Ice Breakers workshop for children ages 9-12 a few months back with the focus being communication and self-expression.

One of the questions I asked the kids to answer on a questionnaire was, ‘name someone that you like to talk to because they truly listen to you.’ A few put a friend, one put her cat and a few put their mom, but I was surprised at how many children had a hard time coming up with someone & left the answer blank.

One very quiet girl asked me at the end, “what if whenever you try to tell someone something they just start talking about themselves?” This struck a chord in me as I know this feeling very well, and one of the many reasons I wanted to start this program. I want to make sure young people are actually being listened to and not just brushed over like their issues and points don’t matter.

During this workshop, I went over ways to communicate with each other that involved active listening so they knew what that meant and what it feels like to be first the speaker and next the listener. I gave them the cards I created and explained to them how to use them and I was pleasantly surprised at how responsive they were and by how many of them wanted extra! ✨

There are so many ways to get lost in the mind, in the online world and in manufactured chaotic energy.
Coming back to the body and working WITH the body to create balance can help us find stability, energy flow and even physical and emotional healing.
It allows us to remember our beautiful humanness. To remind us that we are not what we think and what we get lost in mentally.
We can reconnect the mind, the body and the spirit when we have potentially disconnected the three.
Intuitive, Somatic movement allows for this reconnection. It reminds us of how much our body truly knows, remembers, holds onto and what may need to be let go.
While many things are out to capture our minds, I dance to come back to and advocate for my humanness. Mind-body-energy-spirit as one ☯️
