Pregnancy is often described as a time of joy and anticipation. But for some women, the journey is interrupted by complications like preeclampsia, a potentially serious condition that can place both mother and baby at risk.

Preeclampsia typically develops after 20 weeks of pregnancy and is characterized by high blood pressure, protein in the urine, swelling, headaches, and sometimes visual disturbances. It can progress quickly and requires close medical supervision.

While Western medicine focuses on managing symptoms and monitoring risk, Chinese medicine offers gentle, complementary support, helping regulate the body’s internal systems, promote circulation, and ease the physical and emotional stress of a high-risk pregnancy.

As summer fades and the crisp air of fall arrives, our bodies naturally begin to shift. In Chinese medicine, fall is more than a change in weather—it’s a season of letting go, grounding, and preparing for the stillness of winter.

Fall is associated with the Lungs and Large Intestine, the organs responsible for breathing in what we need and releasing what we don’t—physically, emotionally, and energetically. It’s a time to clear out stagnation, strengthen immunity, and create space for clarity and renewal.

How Acupuncture Supports You in the Fall

Acupuncture during the fall season focuses on:

✔️Boosting Lung qi to support immune health
✔️Improving digestion and elimination
✔️Releasing tension, sadness, or emotional heaviness
✔️Promoting balance during seasonal transitions

If you're feeling congested, heavy, emotionally drained, or simply out of sync, acupuncture can help bring you back to center—so you move into the new season with more ease and energy.

Food as Medicine: 6 Foods Your Acupuncturist Recommends

Because sometimes the best medicine is already in your kitchen.

At our acupuncture clinic, we often say, “Let food be your first medicine.”

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), what you eat is just as important as how you treat your body. Certain foods nourish specific organs, balance energy (Qi), and support your body’s natural healing.

Here are six foods your acupuncturist may recommend—not just because they’re healthy, but because they act like medicine.

Ginger – The Qi Mover

Ginger is warming, aromatic, and known in TCM to stimulate digestion and circulation. If you’re experiencing bloating, cold hands and feet, or nausea, ginger can help move stagnant Qi and warm the interior. Try fresh ginger tea or add it to your cooking for both flavor and therapeutic effect.

Most people think of a concussion as a short-term issue—something you rest from for a few days until the headaches fade and you feel “normal” again. But concussions often leave behind deeper imprints, affecting systems throughout the body.

The result? Lingering symptoms that seem unrelated to the original injury:

➡️ fatigue
➡️ anxiety
➡️ menstrual irregularities
➡️ even digestive or hormonal imbalances

In Chinese medicine, we understand that trauma doesn’t just impact the site of injury. It affects the entire internal ecosystem.

Want Faster Relief? Pair It with Massage

Massage and acupuncture work even better together. While acupuncture helps calm the nervous system and release deep tension from the inside out, massage works directly on tight muscles and fascia to improve movement and reduce pain.

Our in-house massage therapist focuses on areas that often contribute to IT band tension—like the hips, glutes, quads, and lower back. When combined with acupuncture, you’re giving your body a double boost: faster relief, better flexibility, and longer-lasting results.

Whether you're recovering from soreness or just want to keep your body in balance while staying active, this combo can make a big difference.

Keep Moving with Less Pain

Feeling tight? Noticing some soreness? Or just want to stay ahead of it? We’ve got you.
