Endometriosis is a WHOLE-BODY inflammatory disease — and it can affect far more than the reproductive organs.

If you have butt pain, especially around your period, it should not be ignored. Pain is real, and it is not in your head. Imaging such as MRI, ultrasound, or CT scans may not always detect endometriosis.

Proper evaluation by an experienced endometriosis specialist is critical. Awareness and expertise make the difference.

Teenagers can have endometriosis. Severe “killer cramps” are NOT normal. And too many young patients are dismissed, misdiagnosed, or told to “wait it out” — losing years before getting answers.

Endometriosis may be missed in teens because of lack of awareness. Pediatricians, primary care physicians, and specialists must recognize that this disease can begin early — and early diagnosis can prevent years of pain and progression.

Not every teenager needs surgery, but every teenager with severe symptoms deserves to be evaluated, believed, and properly cared for.

If you are a teenager and suspect you may have endometriosis, download the FREE Endo360 app to take a questionnaire, assess your risk, and track your symptoms.

This patient was told over and over that her symptoms were Crohn’s disease. But during surgery, the truth became clear: it was ENDOMETRIOSIS. Her bowel otherwise looked to be in excellent shape, and the real problem was disease growing where it should not be.

This is exactly why I call endometriosis the GREAT MASQUERADER. It can mimic GI conditions like IBS or Crohn’s and lead patients down the wrong path for years.

Don’t gaslight endometriosis. The right diagnosis changes everything.

Proud to share our newly published article in the Journal of Clinical Medicine:

The AGCES Classification System for Endometriosis: Integrating Adenomyosis with Ge***al and Extrage***al Staging

This new expert consensus framework from introduces a more comprehensive way to classify the total burden of disease in endometriosis.

For too long, existing systems have had limitations in fully capturing:
✨ adenomyosis
✨ ge***al disease
✨ extrage***al disease
✨ the true extent of disease burden

Our new A-G-E model helps address this by staging:
A = Adenomyosis
G = Ge***al Endometriosis
E = Extrage***al Endometriosis

The goal is to improve:
✔️ surgical planning
✔️ clinical documentation
✔️ research standardization
✔️ multidisciplinary communication
✔️ patient outcomes

This framework also includes a standardized operative reporting template and digital/web-based tools to help bring greater precision and global standardization to endometriosis care.

This is an important step forward as we continue to pioneer the future of endometriosis and adenomyosis care.

Endometriosis is an enigmatic disease — I often call it the great masquerader because it can present in so many different ways, affecting multiple organs and systems throughout the body. From nosebleeds and chest pain to infertility and even no symptoms at all, this disease does not follow a single pattern.

Endometriosis is a whole-body disease, and recognizing its many faces is key to diagnosis and proper care.

Infertility and endometriosis: YES or NO?

Not every patient with infertility needs IVF. Not every patient needs hormonal suppression. And “normal” tests do not rule out endometriosis. In many cases, endometriosis is the hidden cause of unexplained infertility, failed IVF, damaged tubes, or difficulty conceiving naturally.

The right diagnosis leads to the right treatment. Sometimes that means surgery, sometimes it does not — but every patient deserves an individualized plan based on expertise, not assumptions.

“No symptoms” — except she could not get pregnant.

This patient endured 16 failed IVF cycles and was repeatedly told she did not have endometriosis. When I performed her surgery, the disease was severe — worsened over time while the true diagnosis was overlooked.

Infertility is a symptom. Failed IVF can be a symptom. When endometriosis is missed, patients undergo cycle after cycle of treatment for the wrong problem while the disease silently progresses.

This is not acceptable. We must do better — through education, awareness, and expert care.

Training the next generation is one of the most important parts of my work.

Advancing surgery doesn’t happen alone — it happens by teaching, mentoring, and sharing knowledge with the physicians and students who will care for patients in the future. When we invest in education today, we improve outcomes for patients for decades to come.
