Our clinicians Justin and Kristin took a continuing education course last week, so today at lunch they held an educational session to share what they learned with the rest of the team. Our PT Victor struggles with chronic hip pain, so the team practiced these new skills by evaluating him and putting together a program to kickstart his rehab!

This past weekend Dr. Bobby Chu hosted his summit presentation on arm care in youth throwing athletes. Local athletes and their families had the opportunity to learn about injury prevention strategies and keys to optimizing longevity of athletic careers.

The baseball season is here. Are you looking for help with your young athlete?

S.T.A.R. physical therapy has an ARM-CARE presentation intended for both parents and players to help them understand arm issues, mitigate potential arm injuries during the season, and thrive while playing. Our goal is to keep players on the field through knowledge.

We will have a presentation for two age groups.

Dear Loyal S.T.A.R. family members,

As we enter into the New Year, we are happy to formally acknowledge the new ownership of S.T.A.R Physical Therapy, and congratulate Howard and his family on his hard-earned retirement. Howard created a strong, 30-year legacy that we are eager to continue, providing high-quality physical therapy services to you.

Long-time employee of S.T.A.R. Jason Powell with his wife, Elizabeth Powell (also a Doctor of Physical Therapy), purchased S.T.A.R. effective September 1, 2024, with the predominant and overwhelming feeling of excitement.

Our mission is outstanding patient-centered care for the mid-peninsula area, that will be at the forefront of every decision we make. The goal is to be the preeminent sport and orthopedic physical therapy provider in the mid-peninsula while maintaining the charm of S.T.A.R. We believe that building on the current reputation, operations, and legacy of S.T.A.R. will be the platform to reach the changing and evolving needs of the local community.

For Jason, this is a complete moment. Having been a patient as early as 2002, he also functioned as a volunteer aide, staff aide, front desk receptionist, staff physical therapist, lead physical therapist, and clinical director at S.T.A.R. He has now had a hand in each part of S.T.A.R. over the last 20 years and worked diligently to help mold S.T.A.R. into its current identity. As Jason’s confidant and sounding board for the last 10 years, Elizabeth believes in the work S.T.A.R. has done and the vision and values of S.T.A.R. Jason will be the visible presence in the clinic, but Elizabeth will be and has been working just as diligently behind the scenes to craft the patient experience you feel at S.T.A.R.

We both look forward to being a positive presence and resource in the community we call home. It is through the outstanding staff at S.T.A.R. that we are confident we can continue to provide the care the community has come to expect and elevate the experience for returning patients and new patients alike. We look forward to helping each of you on your journey to physical health and achieving your full human capacity.
