🤓 This week is Myopia Awareness Week and we are raising awareness for the condition of nearsightedness.

Myopia usually presents in late childhood/early adolescence and can play a large role in the ability for your child to see things far away clearly. Myopia often runs in families, but excessive near work can worsen nearsightedness.

👀 Sometimes children don't recognize when they are struggling to see, but they may have the following behaviors that suggest they are having difficulty:

🔸Squinting
🔸Unaware of distance objects or stating they have trouble seeing far away
🔸Blinking or rubbing eyes often
🔸Sitting close to the television or moving screens closer to the face.

School aged children should have an annual exam once a year to ensure they are seeing their best so they can be their best! At Ocean Eye Care, we are currently accepting patients of all ages. Call our office today to schedule your child's annual eye exam!

Free Diabetic Eye Screening tomorrow from 9AM-12PM at Ocean Eye Care.

No appointments are needed. The screening includes a quick, noninvasive retinal photo and the doctor will review the findings with you.

More than 95,000 Delaware adults (roughly 12% of the adult population) are living with known diabetes, placing them all at risk for diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy often has no early symptoms, and early detection is critical to reducing the risk of vision loss and blindness.

Ocean Eye Care is excited to join the Statewide Diabetic Eye screening day to help detect diabetic retinopathy and prevent vision loss.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, select screening locations across the state of Delaware will open their doors to provide diabetic eye screenings.

Individuals with diabetes are strongly encouraged to participate. Diabetic retinopathy often has no early symptoms, and early detection is critical to reducing the risk of vision loss and blindness.
All individuals with diabetes should have a comprehensive eye examination at least once per year.
