I shared very similar words back in March ahead of the PPEL vote, and as this week’s upcoming school bond vote comes near this continues to weigh heavily on our hearts and I felt compelled to keep sharing.
Often times as local business owners we are told it’s better to stay quiet on big issues, or stay neutral on things- “keep the peace” if you will. Although I believe there is a time and a place for that I don’t believe that time is now.
We came here-almost-13 years ago, knowing almost no one in town. We came for a job and to own our own business. That feels almost selfish to write now looking back over these 13 years and everything these communities have given us. Over these past 13 years we have gotten to know so many amazing people, from both communities. These people have supported us and been with us through many highs and lows. To be honest we usually don’t know where people live- or which community(s) they come from- it doesn’t matter to us.
We see people of all ages genuinely care about their communities and their school. The support people have for their school, towns and each other is commendable!
We have seen such growth in new businesses here, day care expansion and many new families moving to town in our years here. It has caused us to want to invest back into the community we serve.
These communities both come together to support their winning school teams while also coming together to support their friends and neighbors in times of need. We have seen this over and over throughout the years. This is truly a special place.
Having kids of our own and visiting many other school’s facilities on a regular basis we understand the needs here are dire. We appreciate the transparency Supt Bonjour and the school board have shown through this whole process. It makes people like us who live out of district easily understand what is going on.
The people in these communities especially these students and staff deserve better.
We want to see these communities continue to grow and thrive and so much of that begins with a strong school. This week we are praying for a move in the right direction for the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebel Page school district and for school bond vote to pass. 💙
