Welcome new intern, JJ!

I am a current Master’s Student in Clinical Psychology at Millersville University, a program that I entered immediately following my undergraduate program in Psychology at Eastern University. I am passionate about evidence-based holistic approaches to psychological and mental health care, which immediately attracted me to Lone Oak and the services they provide. I am excited to be directly involved with the ecotherapeutic and equine-assisted techniques used at Lone Oak, and I love the non-traditional and accepting environment that Lone Oak brings. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and my cat, Wobbles, who has a brain condition that makes it hard for him to walk, as well as spending time outdoors, watching baseball, and reading.

WELCOME SAM! Sam Bare is a Master of Social Work student intern at Lone Oak from Millersville University. She leads conversations with empathy and a dad joke here and there. Born and raised in Lancaster County, she enjoys hiking, biking, and enjoying all of the natural beauty our area has to offer with her family. When she gets the time, she loves traveling to new places, trying new restaurants, and singing very bad karaoke.

Sam is excited to serve the community alongside our amazing group of animals and create new meaningful connections!

We are excited to share that our fundraiser at Hillside Public House has become a “barn raising” event! Borrowing from our country’s long-standing agricultural tradition of gathering community to build and celebrate growth on the farm, we will be utilizing money raised at Hillside to build a new, bigger run-in (horse shed) at Lone Oak. This particular barn raising is also a celebration of partnership with an impressive young man who is building the structure as his Eagle Scout Project. Supported by his family and other Lone Oak community members, he has designed the structure himself and will be onsite, supervising and contributing to its construction. BUT…all of this requires funding, and that’s where you come in! Please, spread the word about our fundraising event at Hillside on August 22nd from 5-10pm. Please spread the word and bring family and friends!
