•This health journey testimonial is powerful•
I'm going to switch gears a little bit today.
I have mentioned before about ways that I have changed my life and my health. In doing so I have changed my relationship with food. I started this process very slowly by learning what my body specifically liked and didn't like because it is different for each individual.
I began by taking a test through my holistic chiropractor, which tests you for food sensitivities, hormonal imbalances, mineral deficiencies, and environmental toxins.
*if this is something you are interested in I highly recommend visiting Dr. Ara DeBrock for more information her website is humanandanimalchiro.com
By doing this test I found out that I was food sensitive to many things including gluten and dairy. So very slowly last year I started eliminating them from my diet. This year my consumption of them had been practically nonexistent, by doing this I have reduced my migraines significantly, improved my sleep, and skin, and massively improved my digestive system.
The other day I decided that I would indulge in pizza and ice cream, I limited my portions but allowed myself to enjoy it. Then the following day I had some chicken with gluten in the breading. These photos are the result, by Saturday night my face, neck, chest, and back were inflamed, broken out in red itchy bumps, and little white heads. I was miserable and instantly regretted my indulgence.
You see, I have been told by many people how awful it must be to eat the way I do or how terrible it would be to give up the things that I have, but what I am here to tell you is how awful my skin and gut felt after eating the foods I did was much worse than the gluten and dairy free alternatives are that I eat on a regular basis.
When you continually put things into your body that it doesn't digest well or are sensitive to your overall health will be mediocre at best, mine was.
Most days I was tired and sluggish, my muscles were weak, I had headaches weekly if not daily, insomnia, ovarian cysts, high anxiety and depression, acne, inflammation, and a poorly functioning digestive system, that included issues going to the bathroom and intense bloating.
Quite the list huh?
I'm sharing this with you all because I want you to witness firsthand just how powerful what we put into our bodies can be in the changes you want to make to your mental health. If your body can't function optimally then it's going to have a hard time being mentally clear and emotionally regulated. And what it comes down to is what kind of "hard" do you want to live with?
So in comparison to the list above, I'd say cleaning up my diet isn't as hard as it was living with all of those other things.
