Moments like this are some of our favorites.

Recently, Steve, one of our crew members, had the chance to show a few curious young visitors what goes on inside one of our transports. From the equipment we use to the way we prepare for emergencies, it is always special to share a closer look at how we serve our community. Seeing their curiosity and thoughtful questions reminds us why community connection matters just as much as clinical care.

As you know, Northern Nevada has had a slow, warmer start to winter, but February is expected to bring a return to more active weather. Forecasts and early 2026 climate data point to increased precipitation, including several chances for snowfall throughout the month. While temperatures may run slightly warmer than average, cold snaps in early to mid-February could still turn storms into snow rather than rain.

At Technical Medical, we watch weather patterns closely because they directly impact community safety. Winter conditions often lead to more vehicle accidents, slips and falls, and travel delays. Preparing ahead helps keep everyone safer and ensures first responders can reach those who need help.

A few ways to stay safe this winter:
ā€¢ Allow extra travel time and drive cautiously on wet or icy roads
ā€¢ Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle with blankets, water, and a flashlight

This week, we responded to a vehicle accident that happened right in front of our station. As the closest Advanced Life Support ambulance available, our team stepped in immediately to help.

Moments like this are a reminder that while much of our work focuses on complex medical transports, our crews are also fully trained and ready to respond when emergencies unfold unexpectedly. We secured the scene, checked on everyone involved, and communicated with incoming responders so they could safely downgrade their approach. Keeping patients, bystanders, and fellow first responders safe is always our top priority.

We are grateful for the trust our community places in us and proud of the professionalism our team brings to every call, whether planned or unplanned.

In October, one of our Ambulances came upon a vehicle stopped in a busy intersection. Worried the driver may have had a medical emergency, our crew stopped on-coming traffic and got out to evaluate the driver's condition. The driver then drove away into oncoming traffic. Our emergency crews contacted Sparks Police and followed the driver with their emergency lights to warn other drivers of the oncoming hazard. Our crew stopped oncoming traffic at several intersections until Sparks PD could catch up and safely stop the vehicle.

Technical Medical's EMTs and Paramedics add much needed resources in our community and we couldnā€™t be more proud of that.

At Tech Med, we're committed to serving our community by providing essential blood draw services for DUI testing in partnership with local law enforcement agencies. At around 150 blood draws monthly, it's hard work that keeps us busy!

With that said, we're proud to provide this service but we invite you to join us in our work to keep roads safe by prioritizing your life and always having a designated driver with you on nights out.

Together, we contribute to reducing impaired driving and keeping northern Nevada safe.
