Get your child's car seat checked for free this weekend! Renown Children’s Hospital and Safe Kids Washoe County are proud to host REMSA Health's next car seat safety checkpoint on Saturday, May 16 at 1095 E Second St. in Reno. The event will start at 9 a.m. and run until noon or after the first 30 cars, whichever comes first.

Volunteer Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on site to inspect car seats for proper installation, check for any safety concerns or recalls, and ensure each seat is correctly fitted to both the child and the vehicle.

Meet Roscoe, Renown’s May Pet Therapy Dog of the Month!

Roscoe is a two-year-old Golden Retriever who loves meeting new people and, of course, eating chicken treats. Alongside his handler, Deborah, he brings comfort, connection and plenty of smiles to patients across Renown.

“One of my favorite memories was visiting the pediatric floor, where we met a young man who hadn’t spoken much since being admitted," Deborah recalls. "After meeting Roscoe, he began petting him and, with some encouragement, started talking and smiling. It was the first time his nurse had seen that since caring for him. It made me so proud to see how gentle and patient Roscoe was, and how much he was able to brighten that young man’s day.”

The Orvis School of Nursing - University of Nevada, Reno and the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows are teaming up to offer free, bilingual health services at the Pennington Clubhouse on Foster Drive (Mondays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). All month-long, Costco employees and members are raising funds to help local kids, like LeAnne! LeAnne's life changed on April 8, 2024, when ongoing back pain sent her to the ER at Renown Children's Hospital. There, she was diagnosed with ALL T-cell leukemia, a fast-growing blood cancer that affects the immune system.

Since then, she has faced surgery, countless transfusions, intensive chemotherapy, lumbar punctures, and long hospital stays.
LeAnne is now 17-years-old, loves driving her truck, and is looking forward to ringing the bell this year on August 12! Donate to Children's Miracle Network at the Costco register, and help us make big change for all kids, like LeAnne!
