Spirit Halloween has a lot of spirit (pun intended) for our kiddos!

Earlier this month, team members from Spirit Halloween stores in Reno, Sparks and Carson City presented a generous check of $76,892 to Renown Children’s Hospital, acknowledging the funds raised from their point-of-sale campaign last fall. This represents an 83% increase from their 2024 efforts – and we are forever grateful.

On Super Bowl Sunday, the Wolf Pack Football team took a moment away from all the festivities to spend time with our patients. Thank you, players, for bringing smiles to the faces of both patients and families alike!

: Snow sports and activities are staples of our region, and our Pediatric Injury Prevention team wants to ensure everyone can enjoy them safely.

Before you head out for fun in the snow, make sure you have all your gear ready and that it's in good condition. Pack all your protective gear, water, snacks and a fully charged cell phone (just in case!).

And don't forget — helmets are crucial not only during skiing and snowboarding but also while sledding.

Renown Health is a proud partner of REMSA Health and its Safety Seats program, which offers free car seat checkpoints throughout the community. Renown Children’s Hospital and Safe Kids Washoe County are proud to host this month's event this Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1095 E Second St. in Reno. The event will start at 9 a.m. and run until noon or after the first 30 cars, whichever comes first.

During Saturday’s checkpoint event, Volunteer Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on site to inspect car seats for proper installation, check for any safety concerns or recalls, and ensure each seat is correctly fitted to both the child and the vehicle.

While this event is free of charge to the community, donations are always appreciated and are used locally.

Mark your calendars for Saturday!

Be aware: Influenza A is still making its rounds. Dr. Thomas Chmelicek, Division Chief of Urgent Care at Renown Medical Group, wants parents and caregivers to be on the lookout for eye irritation, earaches and sinus-related symptoms that may accompany classic flu signs (fever, body aches, fatigue, etc.). According to Dr. Chmelicek, even though Influenza A is a respiratory virus, it can still affect the eyes, ears and sinuses.
