Our little ones are tuned in to us. When we feel anxious, rushed, or uncertain, they can sense it, and it can make sleep training even harder.

Your job when sleep training or making changes around sleep?
Be a calm, steady, non-anxious presence.

✔️ Take a few deep breaths before bedtime.
✔️ Remind yourself that you’re offering love and teaching an important skill.
✔️ Hold confidence in the process - even when it feels tough.

Your child feels safe and secure not only from your actions, but also from the energy you bring. When you show up calm and consistent, they feel it too. 💕

🌙 Need help building a plan you feel confident in? That’s where I come in. Let’s work together to create a sleep plan that fits your family.

How should I handle daylight saving time?

No matter how you adjust your child’s schedule beforehand or even if you don’t, bedtime and naps with a time change are unlikely to be perfect. I recommend just embracing that it takes all of us, including adults, a few days to adjust. That being said, there are three options for how to handle daylight saving time. Choose whichever one feels less stressful for you and your family.

1. Split the difference - the night of the time change, move bedtime 30 minutes earlier. You also move the morning wake-up time 30 minutes earlier. If your child still naps, look at both sleepy cues and the clock and do the best you can to get your child on their normal nap times the following day.
2. Gradually move bedtime and nap times - a few days up to a week beforehand, gradually move bedtime and wake-up time 10-15 minutes earlier. You will continue gradually moving bedtime and morning wake-up times until they are adjusted an hour earlier. When the time changes, they take naps on their normal schedule as much as possible.
3. Do nothing - just go with the flow and trust that their internal clock will adjust within a few days. Put your child to bed at their normal time. In the Spring, wake them up at their normal morning wake-up time. That day they take naps on their normal schedule as much as possible.

Did you know that you may be able to use your health insurance to pay for your visit with us?

We now accept Aetna and are working on getting contracted with other insurance companies. If you don't have Aetna, don't worry! Regardless of your insurance, you can use a HSA or FSA account if you have one to pay for your appointment. We can also provide you a superbill (aka detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for possible out of network reimbursement. If you live in Nevada and are struggling with your child's sleep, we'd love to connect and support you.

What is the connection between tummy time and sleep? The connection between tummy time and sleep is huge. Consistent tummy time will give your baby the strength and coordination needed to roll, rotate, tuck legs, and other movements she will need to get into a comfortable sleeping position. Once your baby has mastered these skills, she gets to choose the position she sleeps best in versus being stuck in whatever position you put her in to start the night. Learn more below!

😴 Let’s Talk About Sleep Regressions!

Does your once-sleeping-like-a-champ baby suddenly seem to forget how to sleep?
Welcome to the world of sleep regressions—a completely normal (but oh-so-frustrating) phase of development.

Here’s what you need to know:

- Sleep regressions often happen around milestones like rolling, crawling, or talking.
- They typically show up at 4, 8-10, and 18 months (but every child is different!).
- The good news? They’re temporary! With patience and consistency, you can help your little one (and yourself!) get back to better sleep.

Remember, you’re not alone, and there’s no “perfect” way to navigate these phases.

How do you know if your child is getting enough sleep? Here are 5 easy ways to know.

Getting enough sleep isn't just about hitting specific numbers. Each child has a slightly different total sleep need. Using these 5 signs plus looking at the total amount of sleep your child typically gets in 24 hours should help you dial in what's best for your child.
