Gun violence is a public health problem. In 2023, more than 40,000 people died from gun-related injuries across the U.S.

Renown Health supports the American Hospital Association's Hospitals Against Violence (HAV) initiative and today, June 7. Friday is a National Day of Awareness to end violence, which unites hospitals, health systems, nurses, doctors, healthcare professionals and individuals from communities across the country in sharing their commitment to ending violence and highlighting impactful innovative strategies and partnerships.

The wait is over! We are proud to announce that TODAY, the entrance to the Renown South Meadows Medical Center off Double R Blvd. has reopened to the public. Cars can now access the campus from both the north and south off Double R Blvd.

Later this week, a new traffic light will be installed at the main entrance (across from Dutch Bros Coffee) to increase safety for those entering and exiting the hospital. Stay tuned for more information on our South Meadows expansion efforts!

Renown Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation is here to help those with Parkinson's Disease improve their quality of life. At this month's Power Hour (which is free to the community), the physical therapy team will provide information to you and your loved ones about:

Stroke survivor Robert Water was welcomed onto the Reno Aces field to throw the first pitch at the F.A.S.T. Ball Against Stroke game! Robert was brought to Renown Health after his neighbor recognized the "be F.A.S.T.” signs of stroke and acted quickly by calling 911. He received prompt treatment at Renown's Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, the only one in northern Nevada. Thanks to his care team, Robert made a full recovery and returned home two days later. Moms who have newborns in our NICU this Mother’s Day were welcomed with some special items of comfort from two Moms of Preschoolers (MOPS) groups from Grace Church Reno and Summit Church. As a part of their service project, they put together care packages with gift cards and sweet treats for our NICU moms along with crocheted shawls that, when wrapped around their shoulders, feel like a warm hug.
