ilies to live with dignity and comfort as they cope with end of life issues. Hospice is primarily a home care program, but services may also be provided in an assisted living facility, group home or skilled nursing facility. Our hospice team helps the patient and family make informed decisions about care-giving, teaches the necessary skills for “hands-on” care and helps with the approaching and actual death. We strive to create an environment of teamwork and participation, where, through continuous performance improvement, people pursue excellence and take pride in their work, the organization and their personal development. We believe that the quality of our clerical personnel, physicians and volunteers—is the key to our continued success. We provide physicians an environment that fosters high quality diagnosis and treatment. We maintain financial viability through a cost-effective operation to meet the organization's long-term commitment to the community. Not only do we strive to provide the best care to our patients, we also assist with In-Service classes for our communities that we partner with.

5-Star Premier Residences of Reno asked us to come in and teach about hospice services and what we provide.

When our area communities hold staff events, we are always honored to be invited to participate.
Park Place Assisted Living had a successful skills fair with various training topics for staff members.

Our booth was about infection control through hand hygiene and we also had some fun with a beachy Photo Booth.

Remember: Soap up and wash for at least 20 seconds with rubbing entire sudsy
hands under running water.
How do you know how long is 20 seconds? Just sing Happy Burthday to yourself twice. That’s about 20 seconds.
Here’s to well trained staff and clean hands!

The CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Partner) is a certification that “demonstrates that … hospice program meet the highest standard for care.” according to Compassus.com.

Congratulations to the leadership and all the staff in striving for excellence, serving our patients and their loved ones above and beyond requirements set by Medicare.

Our agency is local and family owned where we’ve had time to work out the kinks and strive to provide specialized, individual care.
We don’t have the corporate red tape standing in the way of providing the kind of care that we would want for our own loved ones.

You don’t need a doctor’s order to request an evaluation on a loved one to see if they meet Medicare requirements to benefit from our excellent hospice services.
Just call the office at 775-636-9598 to make an appointment.

Attached is a copy of a post that our Clinical Director, Piper Gals, APRN, posted congratulating the team on such a rave review.

Way to go, team, for providing the best care.

We were honored to be invited to two events this week with our local care-partners.

Summerset Senior Living and Summerset Memory Care facilities hosted a fun carnival for the community and residents.
Word on the street was that they served over 300 bbq hotdogs.

Live music, games, food, and even a dunk tank!
It was a great event to volunteer and serve.

Our second event we were able to volunteer for was the Father’s Day Luncheon at Stone Valley Memory Care.
So many of the Father’s were excited to get fake tattoos for fun and the staff also joined into the festivities.
Great job, Stone Valley, for honoring the Father’s. There were lots of smiles and the food was really good. 👏👏👏

One of the facilities we work with, Arbors Memory Care in Sparks, NV, is providing free educational opportunities to our area.

On Tuesday, June 17th, their guest speaker will be Clare Bajamundi-Plyler, DO, who has expertise in geriatric psychiatry, neurology, and mental health, among other specialties.

Knowledge is powerful and can help the unknown of a disease, be a little less scary.
Especially when we know we aren’t alone.

Thank you and Bravo,
Arbors Memory Care, for hosting and supporting your community.

Please RSVP to the number below as they are providing a light lunch for the attendees.

Way to go, Summit View Hospice!
We love reviews and appreciate the opportunities to service our patients,
their families, caregivers and
the community.

Here are the most recent and
kudos to the whole team for their teamwork efforts that make great care possible.

Side note:
You won’t find us on the Medicare rating, because we aren’t big enough in census to get a rating.
Remember, we are family, locally owned.
We strive to provide more individual-specialized care,
without the red tape.

You WILL find us on other ratings like Google & Yelp. 😃

Thank you, Chris and Nicole. ❤️
It was and is our pleasure to serve.

GET TO KNOW YOUR STAFF:

Michele Clarke RN BSN, CHPN

It is with great pleasure to introduce another of our wonderful Case Manager RNs, Michele Clarke.

About 8 yrs ago, Michele and her family wanted to move from her childhood home of San Jose, CA to Reno, NV to provide a yard for their children to play in and to have some work/life balance.
We are so thankful they decided to make that move.

She has 17 yrs of nursing experience ranging from all areas of surgery, Inter-Op, PACU & Pediatric PACU, Urgent Care and years of Hospice Care.
She also has achieved her certification in Hospice and Palliative Care. This is an accomplishment that is not an easy one to obtain. Way to Go, Michele!!
We are so proud of you for completing this victory.

Michele has a wide array of interests outside of nursing which contributes to why she is so well grounded.
She is not just a nurse and family-girl. You may have seen her as an actress, or as a model. She is also an artist working with different mediums including painting, sketching, epoxy works to create some beautiful jewelry and commemorative pieces. Attached are pictures of a few of her pieces.
Of course, her number one passion is her devotion and love for her family but she enjoys self care practices of working out, specifically running, that she states, “keeps me sane”.

When asked, “Why Hospice?”, she answered,
“I love everything about it. I love forming relationships with my patients, the families and my coworkers. I love that hospice provides support for patients and family’s during a very challenging time in their lives, and we can offer them peace and comfort. This is by far my favorite nursing I have ever done and want to continue working in hospice for the rest of my career.”

She provided a lovely answer when asked what was her inner motto:
“Everyone is different and should be cared for with no judgment. All lives deserve loving care, dignity and compassion, no matter where they are in their journey.”

If you meet her someday,
you’ll know why we think she is very special.
