A huge thank you to Melanie Basham, Life Enrichment Director at Town Village of Leawood and a certified music therapist, for joining us as a guest speaker during one of our recent Dementia Support Groups.

Melanie shared incredible insights on how music can support residents with dementia—helping reduce anxiety and improve memory. One practical takeaway: try using the melody of a familiar song as a cue for daily tasks like brushing teeth or mealtimes.

Our Dementia Support Groups, held every two months, are all about equipping families with tools and ideas that make a real difference.

TARCC is a groundbreaking initiative that has been advancing Alzheimer’s research in Texas since 1999, helping improve diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. We’re so proud to have a leader like Dr. Petersen representing Pegasus Senior Living at such an important event.

Our Vice President of Health and Wellness and the Texas Alzheimer’s Research and Care Consortium are making advancements in memory loss.
