💔 A tragic reminder of why AEDs and Cardiac Emergency Response Plans are so important.

A 13-year-old boy died from sudden cardiac arrest during PE.

- Did the school have an AED? Yes.
- Was it used during this emergency? No.
- Why? They didn’t know the school had one. It was in the main office. No one told them.

On May 5, 2025, a California appellate court upheld the $15M verdict, citing the school’s failure to inform staff about the AED’s presence and location.

MCSO K9 Exposed to Fentanyl — Rushed to Hospital.

While assisting in a search yesterday at one of our jails, MCSO K9 Max alerted to the presence of fentanyl on an inmate. Shortly after, Max began showing signs of exposure and significant medical distress. His handler and Detention staff acted quickly, rushing him to a nearby animal hospital where he was treated with Narcan and closely monitored.

We’re happy to share that Max has made a full recovery and is eager to get back to work. His strength—and his handler’s quick response—are nothing short of heroic.

Advantage CPR Instruction is currently seeking part time instructors to teach EMS Safety and American Heart Association BLS/CPR/First Aid Courses in the Reno/Carson/Tahoe area. Instructors will primarily teach onsite at our office in Reno and will occasionally be offered onsite at locations.

Between 4 to 12 hours a week - You pick your schedule!!!

ACI prides itself on giving high quality, informative and FUN CPR classes. Applicant must be comfortable speaking in front of large groups of people. (Enthusiasm and a great sense of humor are a plus!)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Work with the Training Site Coordinator and staff to ensure quality of the courses offered.

-Instructors must ensure that students acquire the skills necessary for successful course completion.

-Provide service oriented customer assistance in a professional and courteous manner.

-Keep up to date and revise teaching methods in order to maintain current working knowledge.

-Responsible for maintaining a clean classroom environment..
-Assist other instructors as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

-Current American Heart Association BLS CPR Healthcare Provider card and BLS Instructor Certification. MUST HAVE Real life EMS and/or Healthcare Provider experience.

-Knowledge of time management techniques to structure activity to accomplish the most possible in the time available.

-Ability to provide accurate information or assistance to students, staff, and faculty in a timely and courteous manner.

-Ability to listen actively and demonstrate understanding.

-Knowledge of current developments in related fields of specialization.

-Ability to deal in a professional and courteous manner with a variety of individuals.

-Oral and written skills to convey information accurately, thoroughly, and in a manner easily understood by students, staff and faculty.

-Ability to keep up to date on changes in policies and procedures to maintain current working knowledge.
