Meet Gabby, RN ❤️
Gabby’s Hospice Why -
“My "hospice why" is deeply personal and rooted in my own experiences, particularly with my grandmother. She was my inspiration for becoming a nurse. Growing up, I witnessed her strength, kindness, and unwavering love for our family. When she was nearing the end of her life, I had the privilege of being by her side as she transitioned and gained her wings. That experience was life changing for me and gave me a profound understanding of the importance of compassionate, personalized care during such a delicate time. Being present for my grandmother's care really opened my eyes to how deeply hospice care can affect both the patients and their loved ones. It showed me the value of knowing a person's story, their joys, their fears, and the things that made them feel safe and loved. That inspired me to pursue a career in hospice nursing, as I wanted to be the one providing that same level of care, compassion, and presence for others.
I chose hospice nursing because it allows me to make a meaningful impact on both patients and their families during a time of immense need. What truly fulfills me is the opportunity to learn about what gave my patients happiness throughout their lives, and how I can bring elements of that joy into their final days. Whether it is a cherished memory, a favorite song, or simply a comforting presence, I find great satisfaction in incorporating these personal aspects into the care I provide.
One of the most rewarding parts of hospice nursing is the wisdom and life lessons I learn from my patients and their stories. Every individual I care for has a unique life journey, and hearing their experiences, challenges, and triumphs give me a deeper appreciation for the human spirit. It is humbling to witness their strength, resilience, and often, their incredible ability to find peace in the face of life's greatest challenges. These lessons stay with me and shape the way I approach both my nursing practice and personal life, and it is a reminder of why I am so passionate about hospice care.”
Gabby, our patients, families, our team, and our community are so fortunate to have you. Thank you for the compassion and care you provide every day.
