One of our longtime clients is currently living the dream—carving lines through untouched powder in the heart of Alaska on a heli-skiing trip.

It’s moments like these that remind us why we train the way we do at Performance EDU. It’s not just about numbers in the gym—it’s about preparing the body for the wild, unpredictable, and unforgettable moments life throws your way.

We focus on science-backed training and movement-driven strength for a reason: so our clients can move with confidence whether they’re on the slopes, in the backcountry, or just handling life’s daily grind.

To our client up north—enjoy every second. You’ve earned it.

Stay strong,
Marc

You Only Need to Test Strength
Myth: A client’s ability to lift heavy is the main marker of their fitness.
Reality: Strength is important, but mobility, stability, endurance, and movement patterns are equally critical. Neglecting these areas can lead to injury and poor performance.

The Evaluation Ends After the First Session
Myth: Once the initial evaluation is done, it’s over.
Reality: Continuous re-evaluation is crucial. As clients progress, their strengths and weaknesses evolve. Regular check-ins allow for program adjustments and long-term success.

12/18/2024

More Data = Better Results
Myth: Collecting extensive data (e.g., 20+ tests) gives better insights.
Reality: Overloading a client with tests can lead to confusion and fatigue. A focused, intentional evaluation (like identifying key weaknesses or asymmetries) delivers better actionable results.

The Evaluation is Just a Formality
Myth: Evaluations are seen as something to "check the box" before starting a training program. Some clients (and even trainers) believe it's unnecessary.
Reality: A proper evaluation is the cornerstone of an effective program. It identifies imbalances, injuries, and individual needs, establishing a foundation for success.

Injury prevention is vital for returning to sports, as it prepares athletes to meet their sport's demands safely. After an injury or break, issues like muscle imbalances and decreased strength heighten the risk of reinjury. Return to sport training addresses these through focused exercises that restore function and alignment.

Key components include:

1. Strength and Stability: Build strength around the injured area to improve joint stability.
2. Enhanced Biomechanics: Correct movement patterns to prevent overload during sport-specific actions.
3. Progressive Loading: Gradually increase intensity to adapt the body and lower overuse injury risk.
4. Dynamic Warm-Ups: Engage in active mobility to decrease acute injury likelihood.
5. Balance and Coordination: Enhance proprioception for better responses to unexpected movements.
6. Education: Equip athletes with knowledge to recognize signs of overtraining or poor technique.

By addressing these aspects, return to sport training creates a safer path back to performance. 🏋️‍

12/13/2024

Return to sport training is an essential part of athletic recovery and performance for several reasons:

1. Injury Prevention: A well-structured return to sport training program ensures that an athlete's body is adequately prepared for the specific demands of their sport. This significantly lowers the risk of re-injury, which is often a concern when athletes return too early or without sufficient conditioning.

2. Rebuilding Strength and Mobility: After an injury or time off, muscles can weaken and range of motion may diminish. Return to sport training focuses on addressing these issues, helping to rebuild essential strength, stability, and mobility.

3. Sport-Specific Conditioning: Each sport requires distinct movement patterns, energy systems, and skills. Return to sport programs customize training to replicate these specific demands, allowing athletes to transition back into their sport smoothly.

4. Psychological Readiness: The mental aspect of returning to sport after an injury can be daunting. A structured training program helps build confidence by gradually increasing the intensity and complexity of exercises, enabling athletes to regain trust in their bodies.

5. Performance Optimization: Athletes who engage in return to sport training not only become more resilient but frequently perform at higher levels. These programs enhance physical conditioning, agility, and technique, ensuring athletes can re-enter their sport at or close to peak performance.

6. Holistic Recovery: Effective return to sport training encompasses physical, mental, and tactical elements of recovery, addressing the athlete as a whole and confirming they are genuinely ready for the challenges of competition.

7. Long-Term Athletic Career: Hurrying back into sports without proper preparation can result in chronic injuries or shorten athletic careers. Structured return to sport programs safeguard athletes' long-term health and performance.

Ultimately, return to sport training is about equipping athletes for success, minimizing risks, and facilitating a smooth and confident transition back into competition. 🏅💪

Our Story

At Performance EDU, we believe that fitness is built from a strong foundation. Healthy movement starts from well coached positions, proper activation, and a desire to move well. Our passion is coaching. Our facility is designed to facilitate healthy movement. And our intention is to stimulate our clients’ desire to move. Our equation for a good foundation is simple. Get the right parts of the body activated, you will move pain free. Teach someone to move correctly, strength will continue to increase. Pain-free moving where strength continues to grow develops an increasing desire to get better, grow stronger, and move well. Foundations are the strength below every building, and the body is no different. Build your foundation and your body will grow strong, be resilient, and have longevity, whether you are an athlete, a weekend warrior, or just someone interested in looking and feeling good.
