Last night was one for the books! ✨

For the first time ever in my 15 years as a doula, I had a family choose a cord burning ceremony instead of the traditional cord cutting. It was such a beautiful, intentional, and sacred experience to witness.

If you’ve never heard of a cord burning ceremony, it symbolizes a gentle transition of baby from womb to earthside life. Instead of cutting the cord with scissors, the cord is slowly separated using a flame often while parents share blessings, affirmations, or words of welcome for their baby. The process encourages slowing down, being present, and honoring the connection between mother, baby, and partner in a deeply meaningful way.

And an even bigger congratulations to this beautiful family on their incredible home birth after cesarean. 🤍 Watching a mother reclaim her birth experience and choose to do things her own way after feeling like that choice was taken from her during her previous cesarean was unbelievably powerful and emotional to witness.

There is something so incredibly special about walking alongside a family not just once, but FOUR different times! 💙

From welcoming their very first baby to now loving on all four of these sweet boys…what an absolute honor it has been to be part of their story. These are the moments that remind me why I love this work so much.

Feeling extra grateful today for the trust, the friendships, and the families who continue to invite me into some of the most sacred moments of their lives.

Still grappling with the reality that we’re not in a time where breech birth is widely supported for women who are good candidates ESPECIALLY those with prior successful vaginal births.

Having also witnessed successful breech births myself, it’s something I think about often, and I do believe it deserves more conversation. Our moms and babies deserve better.

Every birth story this month was unique, intense, and beautiful in its own way.

This one hits close to my heart…One of our amazing local moms and one of my dearest clients, Sarah Searles is currently deployed and has been away from her babies for over a month. 😭

Dad is holding down the fort with their two little ones (ages 5 and 3), and I’d love for us to come together and help lighten the load by organizing a meal train while Sarah is serving our country.

You guys this week marks 15 years as a doula. 💛

It’s hard to believe this family photo was taken just a few months before I chose this path. What started as “just a hobby” turned into a calling that has shaped my life in the most meaningful ways.

I’ve witnessed countless first breaths, held hands through the hardest moments, cried alongside families, and celebrated the strength of hundreds and hundreds of women over and over again.

Thank you for trusting me, inviting me into your stories, and allowing me to support you. You’ve changed me just as much as I’ve supported you & I’ll never take that for granted. Love You All!!

Two beautiful babies have arrived since Saturday. 💙💕✨ Three nights of sleep lost 😴… but I somehow wrapped up an amazing Sunday birth class with this sweet group. 💛

Perks of weekend afternoon classes = everyone is awake, happy, and ready to learn. ☀️📚 Big thank you to this beautiful group for choosing , showing up, and getting inspired for a beautiful birth experience. 🙏💫

I am considering adding more Sundays to the schedule… stay tuned. 😉🗓️

Fun Fact Friday: 🌍

In January 2027, I am heading to 🇹🇿 Africa with two friends 👯to hike Mount Kilimanjaro.⛰️ It will easily be one of the hardest things I’ve ever done… aside from raising two crazy boys. 😅

Since I am already booking clients into November, I wanted to give everyone a heads-up: I will not be taking babies due around Christmas or during the month of January while I am away climbing 19,000ft up a mountain (pray for me).🙏

Sooooo, consider this your official warning… maybe lay off making babies until May. 😉

Last night we wrapped up their childbirth education journey, and I couldn’t feel more honored to support these beautiful families as they prepare to welcome their babies. It has been such a joy walking alongside you during this season. Thank you! 💛🤍
