We’re excited to welcome Debra Harman, MD, FAAFP, a board-certified family medicine physician now seeing patients at Saint Mary’s Primary Care at our Northwest Reno clinic.

Dr. Harman completed her medical degree at VCU School of Medicine in Virginia and her residency at the University of Florida Jacksonville. She’s passionate about helping patients improve their health through lifestyle changes and achieving long-term wellness.

Originally from Virginia, Dr. Harman loves Reno’s welcoming community and the beautiful outdoors. Outside of work, you’ll find her hiking, skiing, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Today we would like to recognize two of our employees for achieving "Employee of the Month" at both our hospital and within our medical group. We are acknowledging Rodger and Elianet for this extraordinary accomplishment!

Here are just a few of the wonderful comments that were submitted on these employees:

Rodger – "Rodger did a fantastic job of taking care of my dad the first day after his heart surgery in the ICU. His jokes kept our family in good spirits, and he made sure my dad wasn’t in too much pain. He was a very skilled nurse and amazing professional!"

Elianet – "Ellie helped me figure out where my referral was sent to after I was left confused with conflicting information. She went above and beyond by reaching out to the offices on my behalf and figured out what was needed to help get me established. I was left reassured and confident in the referrals department’s ability to help me."

Seeking mental health support? Saint Mary’s is proud to offer genuine, expert-level inpatient mental health services to the community. Our dedicated team is passionate about providing excellent mental healthcare while placing an importance on sincerity and safety.

Some of the most common conditions that we assist with and treat are: major depression, schizophrenia, suicidal thoughts, sever anxiety and agitation, psychosis, PTSD, and much more. Today we said goodbye to someone special, as she is moving away from the area. After more than 20 years of service as a volunteer (and many years before that as a nurse in our family care clinics) Maryann spent her last day at the Saint Mary’s front desk.

Since 2003, she has greeted patients with kindness, helped families find their way around the hospital, trained several new volunteers, and even made it her mission to keep wheelchairs ready at the door for anyone who needed them.

Maryann’s humor, warmth, and reliability have touched patients, visitors, and staff alike. She says her favorite part of volunteering was meeting so many people and building friendships, especially with our admitting team up at the front desk.

Her advice to future volunteers? “Put in some time, enjoy the people, and have fun. If you enjoy talking to people, you’ll have a great time volunteering at Saint Mary’s.”

Though she is moving to the East Coast to be closer to family, her impact here will last for years to come. Thank you, Maryann, for more than two decades of dedication to our patients, our community, and our hospital. 💙
