Meet our Family Navigator, Stephanie Garcia!

She is a mother of three, with two children on the autism spectrum and ADHD, who also face speech and learning obstacles.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Stephanie provides Spanish language support to families in northern Nevada who have a child with disabilities or special health care needs.

Her primary responsibility is acting as our liaison to the University Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment (UCAN) where she helps families who are seeking diagnostic treatment with resources and application assistance.

Es madre de tres hijos, dos de ellos en el espectro del autismo y con TDAH, y también ha enfrentado desafíos relacionados con el habla y el aprendizaje.

Nacida y criada en Puerto Rico, Stephanie brinda apoyo en español a familias del norte de Nevada que tienen un hijo con discapacidades o necesidades especiales de atención médica.

Su principal responsabilidad es servir como enlace con el Centro Universitario de Autismo y Neurodesarrollo (UCAN), donde apoya a las familias que buscan evaluación diagnóstica, brindándoles recursos y asistencia con solicitudes.

The University of Utah is recruiting family caregivers of children and youth with disabilities or medical complexity to participate in a research study about measuring discrimination in healthcare.

The purpose of this study is to understand the perspectives of family members of children with disability on a new survey designed to measure discrimination in healthcare. Participants will receive: $100 amazon gift card, compensation will be emailed to participants as an electronic gift card.
