Upstate KIDS Follow-Up

Upstate KIDS Follow-Up The Upstate KIDS Study tracks the growth, motor, and social development of over 6,000 children born in New York state (excluding NYC) between 2008-2010.

The Upstate KIDS study is led by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, one of the National Institutes of Health, of the US Department of Health and Human Service. This project is in collaboration with the New York State Department of Health and the University at Albany. The Upstate KIDS Study tracks the growth, motor, and social development of children given the increasing use of infertility treatment, occurrence of maternal obesity and pregnancy complications, and rising maternal age at birth. From 2008 to 2010, over 5000 mothers and their 6000 children born from the 57 counties of New York State (exclusive of New York City) joined this important study!

It’s National Child Health Day! Part of keeping kids healthy is letting their bodies rest when sick. With school in full swing, many parents wonder when to keep a child home sick.
In this interview with a pediatrician, the Academy of American Pediatrics Healthy Children radio program addresses specific questions. Do you send your child if he or she is vomiting at night but not in the morning? Should you have your child tested for strep throat if some children have been diagnosed with strep at school?

Pediatrician Anita Chandra, MD, FAAP, joins the Healthy Children show on RadioMD to discuss the signs, symptoms and reasons why and when you should keep your kids home from school.
