A throwback to the last time my mom came out to the Pacific Northwest for a visit seemed fitting for mother’s day.

A happy Mother’s Day to the mom who will always see her giant son as her little boy.

Forever grateful for all that you have done and continue to provide.

Love ya madre!

Kettlebell swing break down
-No matter how heavy the bell, the swing should always look identical.

-This was an 80lber and it kicked my ass realll good.

-One of the biggest challenges is using enough hip extension to get the bell all the way to shoulder height without actually using your shoulders.

-As you can see in the slow motion, the bell “floats” at the top before coming back down.

-Additionally, you you will notice in the first few reps how little my upper body moves, this isnt ideal.

-Much like with a dead lift, you want to let your hips do most the effort maintaining maximum stretch by hinging backward, maintaining a tall chest but still allowing your upper body to flex forward.

-While there is some knee bending we dont want to squat a swing. The bulk of the movement is coming from my hips.

Respect the swing, make it a true hinge, and it will be a game changer for your conditioning.

“Does coffee break a fast?”

Monday (delayed 😅) Myth or Magic in Under a Minute episode 2️⃣
The answer is, it depends on whats in it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

If there is cream and/or sugar, even for you bulletproof butter coffee fans, than yes it still takes you out of a fasted state. 👎

If it’s just black coffee by itself, then no and it may potentially help with staving off hunger in the morning of a fast.

Black coffee is the way to go ☕️

Part 1 of a 2 part series.
Most people suck at doing pushups, elbows flare out, low back sinks, zero tension. 👎

Not only does this look awful but it is horrible on the shoulders.

Tucking the elbows to 45 degrees does a world of a difference by itself, not only for better activation but also joint integrity.

Respect your pushup and it will pay dividends.

Make kettle bell goblet squats suck less 😅

When it comes to kettle bells, they can be very taxing on the upper body when you’re holding them by the horns for any given exercise.

Upper body posture is often first to give out before anything else.
This method can be a real game changer for allowing an individual to hold a heavier bell but maintain good form.

Granted.

A heavy kettle bell is still a heavy kettle bell...and heavy kettle bells squats/lunges, etc aren’t exactly fun 😅

New series alert! 🔥🔥

“Myth or Magic?”
Episode 1

I am starting a new series called:
“Monday myth or magic in under a minute”.

In it Ill be briefly discussing a past/current trend in the health and fitness world and whether its worth trying.

Today’s episode is about intermittent fasting.

As I mentioned, this can be a fantastic way for people to cut down on the frequency of their eating if they a lot all of their calories for the day in that eating window.

This style of eating can be especially beneficial if you are not a morning eater but would rather wait for lunch to have your first meal.

One of the biggest tenets is that it is harder to over eat in a shorter eating window than that of a larger one.

However much like any other diet, if you still go over your calories in the eating window no matter how small or big it is, you will still gain weight.

Conclusion: it depends 🤷🏼‍♂️, it can help reduce excess calories however you still need to make sure you are eating less.
