Legislative Update: All three of our priority bills have cleared their first major hurdle. Each bill received a hearing and was voted out of committee ahead of today's cutoff deadline—keeping them moving forward in the legislative process.

✨ Weekend Recap: Advocacy, Leadership, and the Future of Pharmacy ✨

From Friday through Sunday, WSPA was busy in all the best ways. We concluded an excellent Board of Directors meeting with thoughtful discussions on the fundamentals of WSPA, innovative ways to better engage our members, and the future of our profession. We are incredibly grateful to our volunteer leaders for bringing their ideas, energy, and passion to the association.

Friday was also a big advocacy day for pharmacy, with overlapping legislative hearings and a strong showing from our members.

SB 5924, which seeks to permit independent prescribing by pharmacists, featured multiple panels of pharmacists representing many areas of practice, along with support from three physicians. More than 300 people signed in support. Way to go!

HB 2613, a bill that would have devastating effects on compounding, was also heard. Our Compounding SIG delivered strong testimony in opposition and made sure legislators understood the real-world impact. Thank you to our members for showing up BIG for the profession.

We showed up strong at Pharmacy Legislative Day on Wednesday! 💪

Together, 118 student pharmacists and 21 pharmacists held 60+ meetings with legislators, raising our collective voice for the future of pharmacy.

Huge thanks to Walgreens, NACDS, and QFC for their generous support and partnership in making this impactful day possible.

After 3 years of work, our Pharmacy Scope Expansion Bill, SB 5924 has a hearing on Friday, January 30th, at 8:00 AM in the Senate Health & Long Term Care Committee. The WSPA is working with our Legislators to line up key panels to testify on behalf of our profession. We need to show broad support from our state and profession, please take 2 minutes to register your support for the bill today!

Help us get over 200 signatures in support of the bill before the hearing!
