Continuing in our series of asking our Associate Board members what their "Why" is for being involved! Here's what our Associate Board Secretary, Katie Cook, had to say:

"Isabel’s house works diligently to prioritize children by ensuring the child’s physical, educational, and psychosocial wellness. Isabel’s house focuses on solutions, rather than imperfections, of the foster care system. In that purpose, they efficiently pivot to meet the needs of children in southwest Missouri. And that is my WHY— to emphatically be a part of the pivot that changes the trajectory of kids for the better."

Thank you for the care you show to our families and kids that prevents the need for kids to go into the foster care system, Katie!

"Improving functional performance for a lifetime of wellness" is the creed we live by, filter decisions through, and create relationships around. 💪

Years ago we were invited to support CrossFit Republic athletes through RockTape & RockBlades. Over time that service matured into wellness through touch via massage therapy.

Unbeknownst to us at the time, that one simple growth step opened the doors for us to be a refuge on a spiritual, emotional, and mental level for many of our clients as well - encapsulating our creed and expanding our vision of what "wellness" truly means. 🙏 Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your health and wellness journey! 💙

We have multiple personal trainers to help meet your needs and goals in your fitness journey!
Latasha has started training with Phil Cook an ISSA certified personal trainer, and has answered a few questions about the gym and person training below.

What do you like about Bluejay Barbell?
The gym is close to my house and work. I get to meet new people and I have friends and family to bring me here every day.

Before Bluejay Barbell, what did you do for exercise and were you seeing any progress?
I just walked….and, no, I didn’t see any progress.

How have you felt since joining the gym?
It’s taken me a bit to get my body used to working out.

Why did you start working with a Personal Trainer?
A Personal Trainer gave me someone to push me to work harder, get stronger, move a little faster, and help me succeed.

What have you learned so far training with Phil?
I’ve learned how to work my legs on the hamstring curl and leg extension machines, and I’ve learned how to do interval training on the bike. I’ve also learned that I don’t like the stair machine!

What do you like about working with Phil?
He’s someone who can help me try new things.

What are you excited about moving forward?
Losing weight & moving better!

We are so excited for Latasha. She has been putting in the work and we cannot wait to watch her reach her goals!!

As I prep for time with family (2/26-3/19/24), here are some providers that I highly recommend if you need care while I’m away:

As 2024 begins, we at Refuge Wellness are excited to share some updates that we believe will enhance the services we provide and further our mission of improving functional performance for a lifetime of wellness.

We have been working hard to expand our offerings to give you more ways to invest in your health and wellbeing. For 3 years on the business-side we have been adapting to cost changes by streamlining our processes and embracing technologies that have kept our service prices unchanged for you.

With reluctance, but necessity, we are at a point where we must make pricing changes in order to continue offering the exceptional care that you have come to expect of us. Those changes include discontinuing service discounts across the board and increasing prices slightly.

However, to counter these changes we have diversified our service times by creating some budget-friendly options. Starting in 2024, we will begin offering an array of 30, 60, & 90 minute sessions for many of our services, allowing you to continue receiving the therapy you need at a price-point that is still accessible.

Additionally, we are providing specialized options for Competition Prep, Mobility, and RockBlading sessions. Pediatric massages services for your little one’s health and wellness are expanding as well.

We feel that these new changes in both pricing and expansion of services will allow us to serve the Republic, MO community even better.
