Big News for Those at Risk of Anaphylaxis!

Earlier this month, the FDA approved the first-ever epinephrine nasal spray, marking a significant advancement in the treatment of anaphylaxis. This could be a game-changer for those who rely on traditional EpiPens.

Dr. William McCann, Chief Medical Officer at Allergy Partners, shared his thoughts on this groundbreaking development:
"I am excited by the FDA’s approval of Neffy, an intranasal epinephrine spray, for emergency treatment of allergic reactions, including life-threatening anaphylaxis. This new option will be especially beneficial for our patients—particularly children and those intimidated by needles—offering a convenient and effective way to manage severe allergies."

As always, it’s essential to remember that not every medicine is right for everyone. Patients and families should consult their allergist to determine if intranasal epinephrine is the right choice for them.

Allergy & Asthma in the News: A Link Between Tick Bites and Meat Allergy?

According to the latest CDC data, there has been a steep increase in cases of alpha-gal syndrome, a rare meat allergy from tick bites this year, and may have already impacted as many as 450,000.

Here's Dr. Bill McCann, Allergy Partners Cheif Medical Officer, on the rare condition:

"We often see alpha-gal, and diagnose via a complete medical history and blood testing. Families can protect their loved ones with awareness, diligence, and tailored avoidance diets while maintaining a healthy diet. For those affected, the allergy can wane over time, and following serial blood work, could be able to reintroduce meat into their diet over time."
