Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood or platelets — for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses and traumatic injuries.

That need is why Reston Hospital is proud to partner with the American Red Cross for an upcoming blood drive on Wednesday, June 10 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Guided by HCA Healthcare’s mission — Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life. — we’re inviting our community to help make a positive impact for patients who depend on lifesaving blood donations.

Blood and platelets cannot be manufactured. They can only come from volunteer donors. Your donation can help improve more lives in more ways.

Reston Hospital Center invites you to the screening of the documentary Death by Numbers, followed by a Q&A with Sam Fuentes on Friday, May 29 from 6:00-7:30pm. Door open at 5:30pm.

Please note this event is not intended for people under the age of 13.

A rare collaboration between 2018 Parkland school shooting survivor / writer Sam Fuentes and Academy Award® nominee and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Kim A. Snyder – DEATH BY NUMBERS breaks through an American society increasingly inured to gun violence and seemingly impervious to a nation of traumatized youth. Interweaving Sam's evocative poetry and her shooter's harrowing sentencing trial that will determine whether he lives or dies, we follow Sam's journey to reclaim her power. As she prepares to confront her shooter who left her wounded and killed classmates with an AR-15 in her Holocaust Studies class, she and her teacher examine complex questions of collective hate and what restorative justice looks like for the victims involved.

Please register for this event. There is no fee. https://bit.ly/4wOzZHD. Hosted by the Reston Hospital Trauma Services Department.

Happy National EMS Week to the emergency medical services teams who show up when every second matters. From providing lifesaving care to offering comfort in moments of crisis, your work makes a meaningful difference for patients, families and communities.

As EMS Week continues, we are hosting the Fairfax County first responders at Reston Hospital come rain or shine! Yesterday, EMS teams had the opportunity to dunk Keith Morrison, Market Director EMS/Emergency Preparedness, in addition to Uncle Fred's BBQ lunch and today, we fed all who came by! Thank you for your dedication, compassion and partnership. We are honored to stand beside you.

Yesterday was National Trauma Survivors Day which annually honors the strength and resilience of trauma and burn survivors, their caregivers, and the medical professionals who support them. Reston Hospital and the Trauma Services team hosted a Race to Rebuild to raise awareness and funding for the Trauma Survivors Network that works on connecting, educating, and empowering trauma survivors and their families, offering resources and advocacy for improved recovery. This year, the Race to Rebuild t-shirt design was created by one of Reston Hospital's trauma services team members, Sarah Sears!

Reston Hospital, with its Level II trauma center, is proud to engage with the community, first responders, and fellow colleagues as well as honor survivors in their road to recovery.

This EMS Week, we’re proud to recognize and thank the incredible EMS professionals who serve Fairfax and Loudoun Counties with skill, compassion, and unwavering dedication every single day.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting Fred's BBQ lunch for our Loudoun County EMS partners as a small token of appreciation for the lifesaving work they do for our community. It was a great opportunity to connect, say thank you, and begin building even stronger relationships ahead of the opening of our new freestanding ER in Leesburg this September.

At Reston Hospital Center, we know exceptional patient care starts with strong partnerships — and we’re excited to continue getting to know and collaborating with the EMS teams who are on the front lines of emergency care across Loudoun County.

Thank you for your service, your commitment, and the trust you place in us as a healthcare partner. We look forward to serving the community together.
