As HCA Healthcare's "We Show Up" Service Month continues, Reston Hospital leaders and colleagues spent time at Shelter House's Katherine Hanley Family Shelter helping out in a variety of ways: from cleaning windows, baseboards and walls in common areas to sorting donated clothes and picking up trash outside of the facility. Shelter House provides housing location support, rental assistance, and intensive case management services to help those experiencing homelessness. Additionally, they rely on volunteers in the community to bolster the work being done by the staff at the facilities, so we were happy to assist!

Above all else we are committed to the care and improvement of human life. We live that mission through our passion and purpose at Reston Hospital and through our dedication and engagement with our community!

Reston Hospital's newest freestanding emergency room: Leesburg ER is coming along. You can now see a structure on the site on Edwards Ferry Road NE right across from the Leesburg Costco! The Reston Hospital operations team, and emergency and hospital leadership were onsite to see the construction and observe the progress! We are excited to bring additional life-saving services, high-quality expertise and compassionate care to a new ER in Loudoun County! Coming your way in September! Reston Hospital had the very distinct honor of participating in the Cornerstones of Our Community Celebration last week. Not only was it a packed house of local businesses, and people driven to serve and make a difference in the community, it was also a beautiful tribute to Kerrie Wilson who has been at the helm of the organization for 25 years leading, mentoring, problem-solving, advocating, and providing resources to those who struggle to make ends meet in the Northern Virginia area.

We are very lucky to have Kerrie on our Reston Hospital Board of Trustees bringing her passion, experience, and hopeful action to the work and governance of our facility. Congratulations to Kerrie and to Cornerstones for their continuing impactful legacy.

Reston Hospital leaders, colleagues, and the Food and Nutrition department came together to pack up lunches for one of our local homeless shelters: Embry Rucker. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department helped to transport all of the food to those in need.

During HCA Healthcare's Service Month, Reston Hospital Center and StoneSprings Hospital Center colleagues are taking additional opportunities to "show up" for our community outside of our facilities. This week, we were honored to give our time to Women Giving Back whose mission is to support women and children in crisis on a first step to stability by providing quality clothing at no cost, assisted by a caring and committed community. This mission aligns with our mission to care and improve human life. Sometimes that is through compassionate care in our hospitals and other times it is through showing up to aid partners and organizations in their community efforts.
