Frequently either due to poor pre-activity conditioning or excessive body weight. Often it is a combination of both...leading to a "perfect storm". It's not that this is not a problem. The Two Boneheads: Stiffness After Rotator Cuff Surgery
The rehabilitation after ROTATOR CUFF SURGERY tries to "thread the needle" between doing too little and doing too much. Too little therapy and activity increases the chance of the repaired tendon healing but at the expense of shoulder stiffness. Whereas too much activity postoperatively may result in more failures of the repair but with a lesser chance of stiffness. When To Stop Running
When you are injured, should you stop running or exercising? That's the topic of this installment of The Two Boneheads video series.
In short, stopping is usually a bad idea. Yep, you read that right...A bad idea. Better to reduce your activities to a lesser, pain-free level or choose an alternative activity that is pain-free as well. This allows you to heal, prevents excessive de-conditioning and enables you to continue gaining all the mental benefits of exercise.
So if your injured, keep moving and keep exercising...But do it wisely.
