PSA GARDENERS TIPS: Let's share Tips!
Are you planting a garden this year?
What are you planting?
Cut a flexible plastic material (like plastic sheeting, bubble wrap, or plastic table cloth) into a strip approximately 6–8 inches wide and 12–24 inches long.
Add Soil: Spread a 1/2-inch layer of moist potting mix uniformly across the strip, leaving roughly 1–2 inches free at one end to make sealing easier.
Roll Up: Starting from one end, roll the material tightly, creating a spiraled "snail shell" shape.
Secure: Use waterproof tape (like masking or duct tape), twine, or rubber bands to secure the roll to prevent it from unfolding.
Place Upright: Stand the snail upright in a tray without holes (allowing for bottom watering).
Plant Seeds: Plant seeds in the spiral-shaped soil layer on top at the appropriate depth, then lightly cover with more soil.
Water & Care: Keep the soil moist by watering from the bottom to prevent disease, and use a plastic bag or dome to maintain humidity for germination.
Transplant: Once seedlings are ready, unroll the snail and carefully separate the roots to plant them.
Key Benefits:
Space-Saving: Requires up to 1/3 less space than traditional pots.
Easy Transplanting: Roots are easily teased apart from the moist, unrolled material.
High Density: Allows for starting up to 25 or more seeds in a single small roll.
