Cotner Funeral Home has been faithfully serving Reynoldsburg and Central Ohio area families since 1972. One thing that makes our funeral home so unique is the fact that it is comprised of four separate homes. Built in the early 1900’s, these homes have been skillfully joined together to create this area’s most family oriented funeral home. A member of the Cotner family has always lived in one section or another of our funeral home since its founding. Our sole purpose is to help you during a very difficult time by providing quality, dependable, affordable service and respect for every family we are privileged to serve. At all times, we show compassion and provide high quality professional service in a manner consistent with the family values of Cotner Funeral Home since our founding. For many years now we've partnered with the Reynoldsburg-Truro Historical Society as we welcome our Reynoldsburg students to the Reynoldsburg Community Mural to help with their local history requirement. Today as the fall field trips began it was Herbert Mills Elementary students.
Lisa Wood does an outstanding job as she presents each detail on the mural and explains the history behind each picture and person. She always has special homework and a gift for each one!
Today we had a special musical addition to their tours. Our newest staff member Hannah performed on her viola. Hannah is a true expert in Civil War and presents professionally her knowledge. Today she combined her knowledge and viola skills for our students!
She played 3 different pieces and shared the historical significance of music in during this time in American history. She played the folk song Cumberland Gap and shared the significance of this area in the war. The Battle Cry of Freedom, published by Root and Cady, which the Union song during the war. And finally she played Brother Green, which is a folk song from a dying soldier.
We learned some new things today from Hannah through her gift of knowledge and music and we hope the students did as well.
