Okay, let's get started! The biggest culprit affecting most of us is our addiction to sugar. Did you know that sugar is as addictive as co***ne? The more we eat it, the more the body craves it.
So the first thing we are going to work on is our daily sugar intake.
Slowly replace bad sugar with healthy sugar. ๐ฏ๐๐๐ vs ๐ฐ๐ซ๐ช๐ฉ
My philosophy to making any changes in your life is to focus on one change at a time. No need to go out and replace your entire pantry, or give up cold turkey. Just ask yourself what you think is your "guilty sweet pleasure"? The food/drink item that you could replace with a healthy alternative(focus on sugar items first).
โ๏ธ๐ฅคFor example if you start the day with a caramel latte or mocha frappuchino at a coffee house, you can ask them to decrease the sweetness by pumps. You'd be surprised how many pumps of syrup they usually put. Usually 4- 6! Eventually you will require less and less. Try without whipped cream next time. Make little changes like this.
*I wouldn't recommend artificial sweeteners unless they use stevia.
๐จIf you have a bowl of ice cream nightly, change it out for a bowl of Greek yogurt sweetened with stevia or honey. You can add as much fresh fruit as you want and cinnamon. No counting calories either. Have as big a bowl until you get full.
๐๐Cottage cheese and fruit work also.
๐๐ฅOpt for a healthy smoothie instead.
Add seeds or nuts for added sweetness and fiber. Stay away from granola.
๐ซIf you have to have chocolate, switch it out for dark chocolate.
If you are a chewy candy eater, try natural dehydrated fruit. You get a better sugar alternative along with the chewing satisfaction. ๐ฌ๐ซ-๐๐๐ฅญ๐
๐งDilute sugary juices with water.
Note: ๐Unless you squeeze the oranges yourself, stay away from orange juice. It's just a jug of orange liquid sugar. No health properties at all. You can get vitamin C from mangos, strawberries and pineapple. Bell peppers have more than oranges.
**Work on this change every day until you feel comfortable making the next change.
Eventually by making these subtle changes one at a time, your body will begin to take in less sugar lessening the cravings. โค๏ธ It does get easier! Hang in there. ๐ช
